ADVOCACY IN ACTION
All Committees Meeting and
Volunteer Appreciation Event
On June 26, 2019, OSPE hosted its annual All
Committees Meeting in North York. This meeting
provided the opportunity for OSPE's Advocacy Task
Forces and Committees to come together, update
each other on their current initiatives, and work to
make sure the engineering voice is unified through
advocacy efforts. Committee members took this
opportunity to talk, discuss, and come up with ideas
for OSPE's MPP Reception and Lobby Day in April
2020.
Sandro Perruzza, OSPE CEO and Dr. Tibor
Turi, Ph.D., P.Eng., kicked off the day by providing
an overview of OSPE's new Strategic Plan. OSPE
envisions a diverse and inclusive profession where
engineers are bold, courageous, and respected
leaders. OSPE Policy Leads, Stuart Atkinson and
Andrea Carmona continued by providing an update
of OSPE's government relations and advocacy
strategy for the upcoming year. They mentioned the
importance of coming up with innovative solutions
to help government advance their agenda. OSPE's
reputation as an advocacy organization stems
from its non-partisanship activities. Every type of
advocacy effort will and should be put forward from
a non-partisan standpoint.
The All Committees Meeting was followed by a
Volunteer Appreciation reception and networking
event. OSPE is extremely greatful for all the time its
volunteers and ambassadors commit to advancing
the engineering profession in Ontario.
