CHAMPIONS TASK FORCE (WE ACT)
Working towards a more progressive and diverse engineering profession
in Ontario
"Through our advocacy efforts, WE ACT continues to focus on
three integral pillars: ensuring women are recognized for their
accomplishments, connected to their communities, and involved in
making the engineering profession and our workplaces a positive
environment for growth. Without our volunteers, our task force would
not be possible, and I am honoured to be among the most caring and
dedicated team of engineers. I encourage our OSPE membership to get
involved in their passions and help bring our community closer."

2019 ACTIVITIES
FEBRUARY
OSPE attends 30 by 30 meeting hosted by Engineers Canada
to discuss progress made through the network, opportunities for
improvement, and create a shared vision for the coming years.
APRIL
Engineers respond to Bill 3, Pay Transparency Act consultation
indicating support for the proposed bill, which establishes
requirements relating to the disclosure of information about the
compensation of employees and prospective employees, and outlining
specific recommendations regarding which compensation elements
should be captured, reporting timelines, and the size of companies that
should be required to report.
Engineers meet with the Ministry of Labour on Pay Equity Day to
discuss the Pay Transparency Act and the continued pay-gap affecting
women in the engineering profession in Ontario.
JUNE
OSPE signs partnership agreement with Society of Women
Engineers Global Office to amplify our efforts to create a more diverse
and inclusive engineering profession.
OSPE hosts WE ACT's 17th Annual Claudette Mackay-Lassonde
Forum focused on delivering practical tools and strategies to
contribute to the success of women in the STEM workplace today.
JULY
OSPE signs partnership agreement with Women in Renewable
Energy (WiRE) to work towards collective goals and ensure that
members receive added benefits.
On June 18, 2019, more than 300 representatives from
the engineering community attended OSPE's 17th Annual
Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Forum It's Time We Build in
Waterloo, Ontario.
