New Board Members

éjeanne Aimey, P.Eng., Nicholas Burgwin,
P.Eng., David Carnegie, P.Eng. and Mark
Frayne, P.Eng. were elected to the Board in
the 2020 Elections. As Nicholas, David and
Mark are new members of the Board, we
would like to extend a special welcome to the OSPE family!
Thank you for your commitment to the profession. We are
very excited to have you join the Board!

NICHOLAS BURGWIN, P.ENG.
Nicholas Burgwin, P.Eng., is the
co-founder and CEO of Fibos
Inc., developer of technology
related to optical measurements.
Burgwin strongly believes in the
value of education for engineers
and has served as a course
administrator for University of Toronto design courses. He
is currently Treasurer of the PEO East Toronto Chapter.
Burgwin has a master's degree from Ryerson University,
where his research focused on low-cost solutions for electric
strain gauges, and over ten years of work experience in
industry. He fully understands the conversation between
industry and academia and the potential value they can
provide each other.
Burgwin regularly presents at technical and business
conferences and has served as a design judge at the Vex
Robotics Formula Bharat competitions.
DAVID CARNEGIE, P.ENG.
David Carnegie, P.Eng., is a
senior engineer at Malroz
Engineering. An environmental
consultant and owner of a small
business, Carnegie is passionate
about the role engineers can play
in a complex, intersectional
society.
With over ten years of volunteer experience, Carnegie
hopes to leverage this knowledge to further cement the
position of Ontario's engineers as valuable pillars of

society. His experience in various fields has allowed him to
understand and appreciate the value of diverse and multidisciplinary teams, and he hopes to continue promoting
cross platform learning among sectors and professionals. He
has served on the OSPE Membership Advisory Committee
since 2016, been a guest speaker at OSPE's Skills and
Jobs Environmental Program, and served as an OSPE
representative on the MECP Soil Engagement Group.
Carnegie holds a M.Sc. in chemical engineering and an
MBA, both from Queen's University. He is also involved with
the Ontario Environmental Industry Association, chair of
the Kingston Economic Development Cooperation Board,
Beaty Water Research Center advisory board, and the Smith
School of Business advisory board.
MARK FRAYNE, P.ENG.
Mark Frayne, P.Eng., believes
engineers are primed to shape
the role of society in the future.
Frayne's unique experience
growing up in a farming
community, combined with
30 years of work in the mining
industry, leaves him well suited to understand the complex
challenges these industries face in the future.
Frayne hopes to use his experience volunteering for
advocacy organizations to ensure that OSPE maintains
and heightens the relevancy of engineers in society. He is
committed to OSPE's strategic pillars and the role engineers
have in maintaining public safety, alongside maintaining
outreach to all sectors and groups in the engineering
community.
Frayne is currently a manager at BESTECH and
volunteers his time with various groups: Scouts Canada,
the Sudbury Playground Hockey League, Women in Science
and Engineering, and as Treasurer of the Huron Woods
Community Association. He currently serves as the Chair
on the Professional Advisory Committee at Cambrian
College, on the Awards and Recognitions committee for the
Municipal Engineering Association, and the Vice-Chair
Technical Advisory Committee for the Mines & Aggregates
Safety & Health Association.
