In 2020, OSPE launched the ENGage Forum, an online platform
that allows all our members to engage on the topics that matter

DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION
IN ENGINEERING

The purpose of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Task Force is to
provide leadership on matters related to diversity, inclusion, equity,
and the elimination of discrimination in Ontario's engineering
profession. The committee has focused on topics such as: creating
pathways to leadership for equity seeking groups, mental health
and wellbeing, awareness, education, and the creation of inclusive
and diverse workplaces.

January

Engineers participate in consultation with the Workforce
Windsor Essex Women's Entrepreneurship Strategy. The
discussion focused on the opportunities and barriers that women
in engineering face in their careers and when looking to establish
their path as entrepreneurs.

March

OSPE attends roundtable discussion with Jill Dunlop,
Associate Minister of Children and Women's Issues. OSPE
participates in a discussion on how the government can support the
advancement of women in engineering. Engineers pose questions

Engineers host annual diversity and inclusion forum The
#EDIAdvantage. The event took place virtually and brought
together 2000+ delegates from across Canada to discuss
why achieving diversity and inclusion in engineering and
STEM more broadly will change the Ontario and Canadian
economies for the better.

OSPE launches campaign to advance diversity and
inclusion in the engineering profession. OSPE commits
to a four-point action plan and calls on all members of the
engineering community and key stakeholders to join at
www.engineeringforchange.ca

December

OSPE hosts women in engineering panel in partnership
with the University of Toronto, Spin Master, and the OSPE
Exchange hubs. The discussion focused on the inspiring
stories of three leaders in the engineering profession who
have overcome barriers and are paving the way for a more
diverse and inclusive future.
