ADVOCACY IN ACTION

As engineering is integrated with many sectors, we also
shared and encouraged any new programs that helped out
our members in other sectors. For example, on the OSPE
LinkedIn page, we shared a new funding program through
NGen Manufacturing Supercluster to help anyone in the
manufacturing sector or supply chain redeploy their sites to
create supplies for the health care sector.
As part of our launch of the Ontario Engineering Academy,
we hosted a free webinar on best working from home
practices, to help workers transition and support government
mandated social distancing measures. OSPE CEO Sandro
Perruzza, former President, Dr. Tibor Turi Ph.D., P.Eng., and
Réjeanne Aimey P.Eng., MBA, also delivered weekly webcasts
on YouTube and Instagram Live, to update our members and
provide any new information on our lobbying efforts.
OSPE understands the economic strain and uncertainty
that this is placing on many members of our community.
We will continue our focus on advocating for economic
development, sustainable infrastructure spending,

investments in the labour force, investments in technology
(i.e. IT infrastructure, health-care innovation, development
of clean-tech), amongst others. Governments will continue
to benefit from a united engineering sector that is able to
provide collective solutions to the challenges facing our
society today.
We want to encourage our members to continue reaching
out to us. We appreciate any advice or ideas they wish to
share with us. We will continue to monitor the situation and
keep members up to date using our various communications
channels. With members' feedback and assistance, we have
been able to maintain an eye on our long-term goals, while
remaining flexible enough to address COVID-19 concerns.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our
members for your valuable contributions, resources, and
support during this uncertain time. OSPE is lucky to have
an engaged, committed membership base, and we are happy
to count on the leadership of engineers to survive this
rocky period.
