OSPE Member Q&A
What is OSPE doing to reduce the decline in membership?
Although there was an initial decrease in membership at the
beginning of the pandemic, we have seen a steady increase in
membership numbers since September 2020.
OSPE has seen incredible engagement online with the
launch of monthly webinars, trivia and ENGgames nights, our
ENGtalks video series and the Engineering the Future podcast.
How many members does OSPE have and what is the
breakdown?
As of Dec 31, 2020:
4,234 Professional members
1,829 Student members
1,404 Intern members
1,207 65+ members
965 Associate members
What is OSPE's position on PEO making CPD mandatory
and other governance changes?
OSPE fully supports the actions taken by PEO to implement
Introducing the Newly Elected Officers
of the Board
The first meeting of the Board was held immediately following
the AGM and it is our pleasure to announce that the following
individuals were elected as officers of the Board:
* Mark Frayne, P.Eng., President and Chair
* Marilyn Powers, P.Eng., Vice Chair
* Nick Burgwin, P.Eng., Treasurer
* Sue Tessier, P.Eng., Secretary
* Réjeanne Aimey, P.Eng., Past Chair
The members accepted the financial statements of the Society
for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2020 as presented by the
Treasurer, Ron Clifton, P.Eng. and approved the appointment of
the auditors, BDO Canada, LLP for 2021.
President Aimey also thanked OSPE's outgoing Board Directors
for contributing their time and service to the engineering
profession: Dr. Tibor Turi, Ph.D., P.Eng., Angela Wojtyla, P.Eng.,
and Laura Yu, P.Eng.

has been advocating to make CPD mandatory for many years.
We also support the proposed changes to their governance
structure to ensure they are focused on their sole mandate of
regulating the practice of professional engineering.
