O
n February 22nd, OSPE received formal recognition
from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario that from this
point forward, March 1st will mark Professional Engineers
Day - being the first of its kind anywhere in Canada. Members
from the Government, the Official Opposition and the Third
Party all stressed the importance of recognizing the vital role
that professional engineers play in our province.
At OSPE, we couldn't agree more. We think it's time that
professional engineers get credit for all the tremendous
things they do. That's why we set out to create a day to
officially recognize and thank professional engineers for their
significant contributions to Ontario's continued success.

Ontario all about?
engineers across Ontario, driving investment, job creation
and recognition for our members.
We are demanding respect and recognition for your
incredible work-sharing stories about the contributions
of our members across Ontario, engineers who are finding
solutions to our world's most challenging problems. OSPE
is earning and retaining attention and investment-driven
by impactful research, member advocacy, and a message
that resonates with politicians, media, and the public.
Ontario's engineers are moving ahead, being listened to,
and are well positioned to continue making an impact-
and it's thanks to all of you-supporting OSPE as our
vehicle for driving this change.
The creation of Professional Engineers Day in Ontario
is just one example of the proactive steps OSPE is taking
to advance the professional and economic interests of
Ontario's engineers. OSPE is committed to creating,
retaining and protecting jobs for professional engineers;
driving economic growth to achieve prosperity for
engineers; and safeguarding and improving the reputation
of the engineering profession.
Our commitments are backed by action. With the
guidance and expertise of our members leading the way,
our advocacy has made an impact.
In the past year alone, OSPE has connected hundreds of
engineering job seekers with job opportunities. We have
played an integral role in the creation of thousands more by
influencing legislation and attracting critical investments
from major engineering employers to Ontario. And
with projects like Professional Engineers Day, OSPE is
continuing to take proactive steps to evolve and enhance
the reputation of our profession.
Professional Engineers Day marked a major win for our
members and an important day for professional engineers
from coast-to-coast. It recognized the vital role that
professional engineers play in building, innovating and
safeguarding our province. Professional engineers are
trusted and ethical leaders, builders and doers. They are on
the front lines of innovation and create paradigm-changing
solutions to complex problems that drive and improve our
world. Put simply, our province wouldn't work without them.
Professional engineers build our communities up and protect
the public interest.
The day was only possible because of our members.
Engineers who are committed to supporting the growth and
advancement of their profession, who wrote, lobbied, called,
emailed, and tweeted to give us this opportunity. We found
an ally in MPP Granville Anderson, and so many others,
politicians who rallied around the message that professional
engineers are vital players in building the
