Puneet Dutt
Literatures of Modernity (master’s) ’14
Puneet published a poetry book titled The Better Monsters in November. Her poems negotiate the cultural complexities of politics, violence, and war in the new century, and explore the lingering effect of racism and the ideas of borders, belonging, and home in North America and beyond from the perspectives and struggles of racialized immigrants and those who serve in the military. Her work has been published in a number of journals and in Imaginarium 4: The Best Canadian Speculative Writing. Born in India and raised in New Jersey, she now resides in Toronto with her husband, where she is an editorial board member at Canthius and a creative writing workshop facilitator with the Toronto Writers Collective.

Michael Hillman
RTA School of Media ’11
Michael writes: “I quit the hectic freelance life of working at every news station in Toronto to take full-time work with CBC in Vancouver in 2012. Since moving to B.C. I’ve enjoyed a surplus of the outdoor lifestyle with all those West Coast things; kale and quinoa included. Through visits back home to visit family and on business trips, I’ve constantly been in contact with my classmates and friends. We still get together every now and then with an RTA karaoke night at the (now closed) Fox & Fiddle on Bloor. We’ll have to find a new venue for our next one! Work-wise, I’ve enjoyed plenty of opportunities thanks to my job at CBC Vancouver. I’ve worked on all levels of elections, concerts, forums and news programs.”
