He produced, directed and wrote more than 100 films and series for TV, beginning at CBC’s The Nature of Things, then the NFB, Mobius Productions, and independents. Beverley A. (McCay) Dales
Business Merchandising ’60
Bev died after a brief, but brave, battle with acute myeloid leukemia June 13, 2016. The proud mother of Steven Dales and C. Michele (Dales) Gare, RTA ’88, Bev was a woman who took many bold stands: as one of a minority of women graduating from the merchandising administration program and later as an active member of Ryerson’s Board of Directors from 1998 to 2004, as a young radio station journalist in Leamington, Ont., then as part of the team that brought Toronto’s CFTO to air. She continued to break ground at her executive training and corporate communications firm, as a pioneer in this industry, and as a board member of the YWCA of Toronto, where she helped to launch the Women of Distinction Awards. Thanks to an estate gift, the Ted Rogers School of Management has established the Beverley A. Dales Award for Women in Leadership, dedicated to fostering connections among women in the master of business administration and master of science in management cohorts.
