student-focused EDI initiatives.
" The Jane Fund will be a permanent legacy, " said President
Agnew. " We are inviting like-minded people, corporations and
organizations to join us in supporting racialized and equity-seeking
students. This will allow us to reach deeper into target communities
and provide meaningful and sustainable support to many
more students. "
Among its initiatives, The Jane Fund will include robust financial
aid opportunities through new and enhanced bursaries.
While financial support is a significant part of addressing equity,
so too are curriculum, the learning environment and supports outside
the classroom. That's why Seneca is re-thinking everything
from recruitment and curriculum to financial, academic and social
supports for students.
Through the Jane Fund, Seneca will offer outreach and academic
programs that target priority communities, while providing
additional services to guide students through their postsecondary
school years.
The Sustainable Seneca
When it comes to fighting climate change, it's all hands on deck.
That's the message of Seneca's first-ever Sustainability Plan,
a five-year blueprint to embed sustainability in every part of
Seneca - from academic programming to building management
to procurement.
" The pandemic has shown us that a global crisis can affect us
all, and climate change is no different, " said Paula Echeveste, Sustainability
Supervisor. " As a postsecondary institution, Seneca has

help urban farmers develop strong and sustainable businesses by
bringing science, business and sustainability together
* Seneca has 50 beehives at King and Newnham Campuses,
producing about 10,000 pounds of honey annually
* Geothermal energy is produced at King Campus
* Seneca aims to be a postsecondary leader in waste
reduction: 1,800 kilograms of compost is created annually
at Newnham Campus
* 36 electric vehicle charge ports have been installed at King
and Newnham campuses
* Seneca's Centre for Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship
is a gold LEED certified building where students can engage with
green technology and practices
