Hershey's chocolate bar features grad
Natalya Amres had a sweet surprise when she appeared
on the wrapper of a Hershey's chocolate bar. The graduate
from the Fashion Business Management advanced diploma
program was one of five Canadian women selected to
appear on the wrappers as part of the Celebrate SHE
campaign launched for International Women's Day.
Indigenous flight school students
soaring again in Seneca planes
The School of Aviation leased the First
Nations Technical Institute (FNTI) two
of its Cessna 172s after a fire destroyed
FNTI's planes and hanger. This helped
FNTI students complete their flight
hours after the disaster.
CITE wins Awards of Excellence
The Centre for Innovation, Technology
& Entrepreneurship (CITE) won the
2022 Canadian Society of Landscape
Architects Awards of Excellence in
the Medium-Scale Public Landscapes
category.
Working toward the
sustainable Seneca
Seneca has signed the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG) Accord,
a worldwide partnership to fight
global injustice and advance the
role of education in delivering the
United Nation's SDGs.
Animation students win big
in global contest
Animation students placed third
in the annual 24 HOURS Animation
Contest for Students. Seneca was
the only Canadian school to place
in the top five of this challenge.
Two Seneca retirees join Order
of Canada
Angela James and Bill Humber (pictured
above) have been named to the Order of
Canada. Ms. James was appointed for her
contributions to women's hockey in Canada,
while Mr. Humber was recognized as the
country's most prominent baseball historian.
The Order of Canada is one of the highest
civilian honours in the country.
Seneca Business earns international accreditation
Seneca is the only college in Ontario and one of 11
institutions across Canada to have business programs
accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business
Schools and Programs.
Two CICan Awards of Excellence
Seneca won a bronze Colleges and Institutes
Canada (CICan) Award of Excellence
in the Sustainable Development Goals
Excellence and the Global Engagement
Excellence categories.
SSF helping those in need
The Seneca Student Federation (SSF) donated
$10,000 to the Food Bank of York Region to
assist those experiencing food insecurity.
Master's-level courses coming to campus
Thanks to a new partnership with Niagara
University, master's courses will be taught by
Seneca professors at Newnham Campus and
Niagara's Vaughan Campus.
Student named OCAA Female
Athlete of the Year
Tessa Liu (pictured right), a Flight
Services - Operations & Cabin
Management diploma program
student, was named the 2021-22
Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's
Female Athlete of the Year.
