TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES

DFI technical committees rose to the
challenges imposed by the global stay-athome situation by providing meaningful
webinar events throughout the summer.
From COVID-19 specific webinar
discussions to detailed engineering analyses
and design information, the committees
presented useful, practical content that
advanced their committees' goals and
provided opportunities for learning.

New Committee Chairs
The Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF)
Committee welcomes Lucky Nagarajan,
general manager of engineering and
business development, Giken America, as
its new committee chair. Nagarajan
succeeds Maysill Pascal, P.E., senior
regional sales/engineering manager for
USW, a Menard Group USA Company, who
advanced the committee and activities
during her tenure as chair.
As an integral part of the Giken team,
Nagarajan has been
managing challenging, extraordinary
projects in the United
States, Canada and
South America. She
has more than 15

years of experience in
engineering design, field and
business development. Prior to
joining Giken America, she was
with Nucor Skyline as the
northeast business development
manager. Nagarajan has been
i n v o l v e d w i t h t h e Wi D F
Committee for the last four years and is a
co-founder of the Metro NYC WiDF
Chapter. The chapter has been actively
organizing industry events in Metro NYC to
focus on leadership, mentoring,
management, and soft skill training.
Nagarajan is also a co-chair of the DFI of
India Support Committee, and recently
launched a WiDF India group to encourage
fellow women engineers to come together
to discuss industry-related issues and
support each other.
The Project Information Management
Systems (PIMS) Committee welcomes
Jamey Rosen, P.Geo., a
senior principal geoscientist at Geosyntec
Consultants, as the new chair. Rosen succeeds Massimo Mucci, director of R&D at
Bencor Global, a Keller Group company.

Rosen has more than 20 years of
experience focused on the management,
visualization, modeling and analysis of
construction, geotechnical and environmental data using database and geographical information systems (GIS) technology.
He is an industry leader in the design and
implementation of information management systems for deep foundations
construction projects and has been the data
manager of record on seepage barrier
installations at the Wolf Creek, Center Hill
and Bolivar dams among others. He is the
lead developer of several web-based data
management systems for the engineering
and infrastructure industries, including the
PipelineTracker, WallTracker, GroutTracker
and DredgeIMS GIS systems. Rosen has
degrees in geology and environmental
hydrogeology from the University of
Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

Energy Foundations Committee
When I mooted the
idea of a second
Energy Foundations
Seminar at DFI's winter planning meeting
in California, I admit to being somewhat
disappointed at being asked to run it as a
webinar. However, I now realize that in this
crazy new "Zoom world," we can be just, if
not more, successful as we work safely
from home. In the weeks running up to the
first webinar on July 8, over 150 had
people registered for the three webinar
sessions. Attendees were from an
incredible 22 different countries.
