DFI MIDYEAR TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ONLINE MEETINGS | MARCH 30 - APRIL 3, 2020

became involved on a technical committee;
attended an event; visited www.dfi.org;
purchased or downloaded a publication;
contributed your expertise as a speaker/
author; and/or supported DFI as an
exhibitor, sponsor, donor or advertiser?
Because your interests align with those of
others in the community?
At the leadership meeting in Chicago
during the DFI 44th Annual Conference, the
"DFI community" was the focus of the
discussion. It will continue to be the crux of
the discussion at the Annual Winter
Planning Meeting this February as DFI
fleshes out and finalizes its 2020-2025
strategic plan. To establish DFI's goals for
the future, we are looking at what we
already have that is working well and that
provides our membership with opportunities to continue to enhance and expand
the DFI community.
New ambitious and forward looking
goals for the 2020-2025 strategic plan
include focusing on the structure of the
support staff and the tools and vehicles used
to disseminate our message and technical

increased research (products
of revitalizing our technical
committees); and effective
student engagement through
more online and in-person
training and opportunities for
mentoring and networking.
I'm sure our trustees and
committee chairs will brainstorm additional creative
goals to take DFI into this new
decade and build upon the
community we are already
proud to have created.
To start the decade off in
the right direction, DFI is
introducing its own "March
Madness" with its Midyear
Technical Committee Online
Meetings from March 30April 3. During this week, all
27 of our groups will hold
virtual meetings to continue
momentum on their projects
and to introduce DFI's technical community to members and nonmembers who

haven't been able to attend our in-person
committee meetings at the Annual
Conference or targeted events like
SuperPile and S3. It will give newcomers
the ability to learn which committees are
involved in activities that spark their
interest and it will allow current engaged
committee members to conduct business
and share their expertise with the newcomers and solicit assistance
on projects.

or is in the midst of preparing, refer to pages 62-68.
Mark your calendar for the
meetings you want to virtually attend. For basketball
lovers, be sure to coordinate
your meeting schedule with
the real "March Madness"
games. Luckily, it seems
we've strategically placed our
Midyear Meetings between
the Elite Eight and the Final
Four. And that's because we
are always thinking about
providing the best for our
community members who
give their all to DFI in so
many ways.
