Forgen welcomed Mark Ahrens as
director of foundations.
Ahrens has 34 years of
experience in the deep
foundations industry
with roles in project
delivery, management
and consulting. As director of foundations,
he will serve at the helm of
Forgen's foundations group, which is
focused on delivering deep foundations
and ground improvement services that
represent the critical site preparation
phase of vertical construction projects.
He is based in Forgen's Houston office.
Schnabel Engineering has announced
the appointment of Chad Mayers, P.E.,
to chief operating officer,
a new role within
the engineering firm.
Mayers has been with
the firm since 2004 and
throughout his 20-year
career his leadership positions have
ranged from branch leader of the
Sterling, Virginia, and Rockville,
Maryland, offices to executive vice
president and then a president of
Schnabel's geoprofessional business
unit. He has also led Schnabel's
international pursuit team, delivering
consequential projects throughout the
world. Mayers has a bachelor 's of
science in civil and environmental
engineering from Virginia Tech, and
earned his master's in geotechnical
engineering from the University of
Maryland. He is registered as a professional
engineer in D.C., Virginia and
Maryland, and is a member of the
American Society of Civil Engineers,
American Council of Engineering
Companies and Society of American
Military Engineers.

James Tantal la,
Ph.D., P.E., is a geotechnical
engineer with 22
years of experience. He
has managed projects
including bridges and
transportation facilities, marine facilities,
buildings and site development,
water and wastewater facilities, and
dams. His services range from feasibility
studies to geotechnical investigations,
foundation recommendations,
ground improvement, foundation and
retaining wall designs, and expert and
forensic works. His notable projects
including the Mario Cuomo Bridge,
Hunts Point Interstate access improvement,
JFK Central Terminal Area and
Garage, and the Willow Island and
Cannelton hydroelectric projects.
Srinivas Yenamandra, P.E., is a
structural foundation engineer with 25
years of experience. He specializes in the
design of shallow and
deep foundations for
bridges and buildings,
waterfront and offshore
structures, temporary
support of excavation
systems, retaining walls, and underpinning
systems. His notable projects
including JFK Airtrain, Woodrow Wilson
Bridge, Newark Airport New Terminal A,
JFK Van Wyck Expressway capacity
improvements, JP Morgan Chase new
headquarters, Goldman Sachs headquarters
and WTC One.
Renzo Verastegui,
P.E., is a structural foundation
engineer with 21
years of experience. He
specializes in design of
deep foundations, mat
foundations, flexible and rigid support
of excavation systems, groundwater
cutoff barriers, ground improvement,
foundation anchoring, underpinning of
buildings, tunnels and infrastructure,
and rehabilitation of waterfront marine
structures. He has been involved in projects
of various scale, such as the Jacob
K. Javits Convention Center expansion,
Columbia University's Manhattanville
Campus, the 7-Line expansion, the
Brooklyn Tower at 9 Dekalb and Second
Avenue Subway Phase 1.
The firm also announced the
fol lowing promot ions to senior
associate.
Colleen Liddy, P.E., is a geotechnical
engineer with 25 years
of experience. She manages
teams of design and
field engineers for
private development
and infrastructure projects
from planning through construction.
Liddy is experienced in
coordinating subsurface investigations,
geotechnical analysis, foundation
design, geotechnical instrumentation
and construction inspection for a variety
of foundation and trenchless construction
projects.
Andrew Klaetsch, P.E., P.G., is a
geotechnical engineer and geologist
with 22 years of experience. He has
de s i gned and implemented
numerous
subsurface investigation
programs for a
variety of public and
private developments
and tunnel excavation projects. Klaetsch
specializes in rock mass classification,
mapping and stability analysis, and
ini t ial suppor t design for rock
excavations and tunnels.
Sung Kong, P.E., is a structural
foundation engineer with 19 years of
experience. He has been
involved with projects
such as commercial,
residential, telecommunications
and transportation
facilities.
Kong has designed, inspected and
analyzed numerous complex foundation
