achievements for geotechnical engineering in the
Netherlands. Jacolien Eijer-de Jong, president of KIVI, said
during the awards ceremony that she was honored to bestow
honorary membership. " Adriaan van Seters is a true
figurehead of geotechnical engineering in the Netherlands
and KIVI honorary membership is a wonderful recognition
of his many achievements. Engineers like Adriaan can
inspire young people to choose engineering and motivate
engineers to keep developing. " Van Seters was a member of
our board since 2009, and he will be missed, not only because
of his invaluable knowledge but also because he is such a
nice person!
But let's look now to the future with our new board
members. We have no fewer than three new board members:
Maarten Profittlich, Davy Maes and Ernst Weber.
Maarten Profittlich is deputy manager foundation
testing Europe/Africa with Fugro. He has 24 years of experience
in the field of geotechnical consulting, foundation
testing, and assessments and geotechnical monitoring on
complex projects in the Netherlands and abroad including
the U.S., Nigeria, Italy and Denmark. He is also chair of the
committee 'Bearing capacity of steel pipe piles' that is
working to update the current guideline CUR 2001-8 (2023 to
present) and was deputy chair of the Dutch Society of
Geotechnical Engineers (2013-2019).
Davy Maes is chair and CEO of
Fundex Piling Group. He holds a degree
from Delft University of Technology and
a certificate of participation in sustainability
studies from Vlerick Business
School. He is passionate about
advancing the field of geotechnical
engineering and defines his mission as creating value for our
clients, partners and stakeholders by offering innovative,
sustainable and cost-effective solutions that meet their
needs and expectations.
Ernst Weber works in both market -
ing and business development for
ArcelorMittal in Luxemburg. He is a
well-known specialist of sheet piling
and steel products for geotechnical applications,
and a member of many
technical committees and professional
associations. He has worked on the widening of the Panama
Canal and the harbor reconstruction in Durban, South Africa,
and participated in the organisation of the Bauma trade fair in
Munich in 2016, 2019 and 2022.
