Virtual SuperPile 2020: June 18-19

SuperPile 2020 is now being held as a virtual
event on June 18-19 from 11 a.m. - 3:30
p.m. EST each day. Hosted in partnership
with ADSC, the conference includes two
half-day sessions of online panel discussions
and member presentations on some of the
most contemporary topics in the foundations industry today. Each day ends with a
1 hour virtual networking happy hour.
Day One (Thursday) opens with a panel
discussion on "Geotechnical Baseline
Reports" (GBR). Geotechnical and legal
experts discuss the meaning, benefits and
challenges of using a GBR for foundation
projects. The panel discussion is followed
by three member presentations highlighting

new design approaches and practical
construction issues.
Day Two (Friday) kicks off with three
more member presentations by invited
speakers. The event concludes with
"Horses for Courses - Pile Testing," a panel
discussion on foundation and integrity
testing methods. Testing experts explore
the features, limitations and appropriate
use of static load testing as compared to bidirectional load testing, and of low strain
dynamic testing as compared to thermal
integrity profiling.
Full conference attendees receive a
total of 6 professional development hours
(PDHs).

WiDF Video Launch
On Thursday at 12:45 p.m., DFI's Women
in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee is
launching its new video, "What is the
geotechnical field?" The dynamic and
engaging DFI members featured in this
video showcase career opportunities from
the office to project sites and through the
many roles available in the geotechnical
field, which include designing, supplying
specialty equipment, managing, constructing and more. This is the perfect
video to share while visiting colleges for
teaching or recruiting, or to bring to local
high schools for a career day.
