Collaboration, Networking, Education
and Communication
Collaboration, Networking, Education and Communication. These are the
foundational elements of DFI's purpose and mission - they are why we exist. All
these pillars are achieved when our members gather at DFI's events. Our
conferences are the culmination of what being a member of DFI is all about.
There's a good chance you're reading this message while attending our first
major conference of 2023, SuperPile in Atlanta on June 7-9. Or maybe you're
planning your registration, exhibition and attendance at the S3: Slopes, Support and
Stabilization conference coming August 8-20 to Boston, or the crème de la crème,
DFI48, our Annual Conference and Members' Meeting in Seattle on October 31 -
November 3. Each of these conferences provides opportunities to collaborate,
network and communicate with fellow members and other industry professionals
while learning from each other during the knowledge-sharing technical sessions.
The first day of each of these events is " committee meeting day, " where
collaboration is key. These are the days when experts on deep foundations and
geotechnical matters convene to create useful guidance documents, position papers
and videos, organize seminars and webinars, and discuss research projects. Don't
miss out on being part of this collaborative, consensus-building process.
During the welcome receptions, coffee breaks between sessions and
luncheons, or while going out on the town after conference hours, networking is
the primary activity. Connections are made and professional and personal
relationships are built among the attendees. Is expanding your list of business
contacts and learning about the products and services available to you of
importance? If so, DFI events are the place to be.
Education is provided through the presentations and participation in the
sessions, including opportunities to ask questions of the speakers. And the learning
doesn't end when the conference is over. Following DFI events, you'll have access to
presentation recordings, PowerPoint slides and written technical papers as a
resource to you and your company so you can continue to increase your knowledge.
And of course, communication happens through the events during committee

meetings, in the exhibit hall, while meeting and greeting current clients and
potential new customers, and between speakers and the audience during
technical sessions.
By the end of the year nearly half of DFI's members will have enhanced the value
of their membership by joining in and engaging in one of the most important
member benefits. If you're a member and haven't attended a DFI event you'll never
know what you're missing until you sign up and take part in the collaboration,
networking, education and communication available at our events. I'm looking
forward to seeing you somewhere this year!
