Tallahassee-based Trulieve
Cannabis Corp. appointed Tim
Mullany as its chief financial
officer. Mullany most recently
spent two-plus years as chief
financial officer at fast-food chain
Jack in the Box and also was chief
financial officer at Denver-based
Vasa Fitness, Dallas-based Rave
Restaurant Group and Seattlebased
Restaurants Unlimited.
Mullany, who started July 10,
replaced Alex D'Amico, who
resigned. A Trulieve news release
announcing the changes did not
give a reason for the departure of
D'Amico, who joined Trulieve in
May 2020.
Promotions Expand
Verano Executive Team
Chicago-based cannabis multistate
operator Verano Holdings expanded
counsel, Laura Kalesnik, was
promoted to chief legal officer and
general counsel, expanding her
current responsibilities to include
overseeing mergers and acquisitions,
securities and corporate
governance. Before joining Verano
in March 2021, Kalesnik spent nearly
four years as a partner with the law
firm Dorsey & Whitney in Texas.
David Spreckman was promoted
from executive vice president
of marketing to chief marketing
officer. Spreckman joined Verano in
2017 as director of retail marketing
and communications. Before Verano,
he spent nearly seven years
with Chicago-based ad agency
LKH&S Advertising.
SNDL Gets New CFO
Alberto Paredero-Quiros joined
Calgary, Alberta-based license
holder SNDL as chief financial
officer. Paredero-Quiros previously
spent more than nine years at
the food company Mondelez
International, including six years
as senior vice president of finance
and chief financial officer for North
America.
He spent nearly eight years with
pharmaceutical giant Novartis,
including the role of chief financial
officer for Asia-Pacific, Middle East
and Africa as well as global head of
business process automation and
financial operations.
SNDL says it is the largest private-sector
liquor and cannabis
retailer in Canada; its cannabis
brand portfolio includes Contraband,
Grasslands, Superette and
Top Leaf.

McDaniel
New York Cannabis
Regulator Resigns
Reuben McDaniel, a member of
New York's Cannabis Control Board
and president of the Dormitory
Authority of the State of New York
(DASNY), announced his resignation
from the board in June during an
Office of Cannabis Management
meeting.
McDaniel had been criticized for
a perceived conflict of interest and
blamed for the state's inability to
open adult-use retail outlets.
Foley Hoag Adds New York
Cannabis Attorney
Law firm Foley Hoag expanded its
cannabis practice with the addition
of attorney Jeffrey Schultz, who
practices out of the firm's New York
office. As a new member of the
business department and cannabis
industry practice, Schultz will
focus on corporate and securities
law, early company financings and
regulatory matters.
