Come for the cannabis, come back because you had a good experience.
That's the mindset that retail operators should remember while strategizing how their cannabis
stores will outperform the competition.
Stocking high-quality cannabis products is essential, but so is curating an in-store aesthetic
that provides customers with a shopping experience that encourages them to come back again
and again.
" Be an experience, " says Crystal Millican, vice president of retail and marketing at Cookies. " We
want our stores and our products to bring people together, to make them feel good. "
Cannabis businesses must provide patrons with a pleasant shopping experience within the bounds
of guidelines unique to the state-legal industry, or risk being handed a hefty fine-or worse.
" Every state has its own unique laws and regulations for cannabis retailers, " notes Frank
Perullo, interim co-CEO, president and co-founder at multistate operator Ascend Wellness
Holdings. " Still, there are ways to work within the rules to create an excellent experience for
