NORML's Fox called Sherrod Brown " an evolving ally " on
cannabis and said his loss to Trump-endorsed challenger Bernie
Moreno would be a blow to marijuana reform in the Senate.
NORML recently upgraded Brown's grade from a B to an A.
" He has become increasingly pro-legalization over the years, "
Fox said, noting that Brown voted for adult-use legalization in
his home state.
" Given his long and increasing support for cannabis policy
reform-and his important committee positions under
Democratic leadership that would likely remain if Democrats
maintained control of the Senate-his loss would definitely be a
potential concern for cannabis policy reform in the upper chamber. "

Juan Ciscomani

Kirsten Engel (D)
It's a rematch of the 2022 election, when anti-marijuana
incumbent Juan Ciscomani narrowly defeated legalization
advocate Kirsten Engel, an attorney and state politician.
According to the Cannabis Voter Project, Ciscomani spoke
out against Proposition 205, the recreational legalization
measure that lost in 2016.
Meanwhile, Engel supports federal legalization of
medical and adult-use cannabis, telling NORML, " Much
as we legalized marijuana here in Arizona in 2020, I support
legalization at the federal level. "
Engel " is fantastic on the issue, " said Fox, NORML's political director, adding that Engel " is actively
campaigning on cannabis policy reform as part of her platform. "
