We're all impacted by inflation and
how the economy is going.
I met with some folks the other
day, and one of their questions
was, " Are you struggling with AR
(accounts receivable)? " And I said,
" Of course we are. "
Everybody's finding it difficult
to keep up with their bills and
their cash flow-and that's just
what's going on in the world. If
your business isn't built to handle
those tough times, you're going to
find it hard to stay in business.
We are dealing with the
complexity of CBD regulations
state-by-state, THC regulations
state-by-state, all of the federal
complications, and then you layer
on (things that are a formula
in other businesses): getting
business insurance, getting a
payroll processor set up, getting
benefits for your employees.
All of those things that should
be no-brainers are 10 times as
hard and 10 times as expensive as
in a " normal " business.
How many payment processors
are going to be shut down
on your e-commerce website
because they think you are doing
something illegal?
You have business disruptions
that normal businesses just don't
have.

You would think that some states
could look at what's come before
them and say, " Wow, this state
did well in both the taxes and
the social justice elements, " and
follow a blueprint.
But it feels like in every
state, when they get (regulated
marijuana) up and go in there,
it's: " Let's start from scratch and
rewrite this completely. "
So, it is really frustrating. Every
state is so different from one to
the next.
We're trying to be thoughtful
about (expansion and) what
markets make sense.
