Snap One Expands ClareVision
Color At Night Availability
SNAP ONE has announced the international availability
of the ClareVision Color At Night series of IP surveillance
cameras. The products leverage wider apertures, Sony Starvis
sensors and integrated LED lighting to deliver improved
nighttime performance and visibility.
" After a successful U.S. launch in early 2022, we are now
expanding our ClareVision Color At Night Series cameras
internationally to give all of our Partners a nighttime surveillance
solution that rivals daytime recordings, " states Forest
Liu, senior director of product management, Surveillance,
Snap One.
" With image sensors specifically designed for low-light,
wider apertures that capture up to 4x more light, and warm
white LEDs that ensure accurate color and wide visibility in
even the darkest areas, this camera series gives customers
greater peace of mind. "
By replacing IR illuminators with newer technologies, the
Color At Night series eliminates IR reflections from rain or
snow while the use of PoE (power over ethernet) and the
integrated light enable installation in unlit, unpowered locations
without the need for new high-voltage wiring. According
to Snap One, this can greatly reduce the cost of surveillance
installations across full properties, as both the camera
and LED light operate on low voltage wiring that doesn't
require a licensed electrician or conduit.
The company points out that dealers can use the product
line for applications such as properties with little or no
exterior lighting, or dark spots such as alleys or landscaping.
All six Color At Night models feature PoE capability and
Smart AI events including people, intrusion, line crossing,
loitering and people gathering detection.
Users can even adjust the LED lighting intensity based on
their needs.
Where infrared cameras provide black-and-white nighttime
imaging, the new ClareVision series of cameras captures
full-color images in low-light environments, and even in
complete darkness with the help of the integrated warm
white LEDs.
The ClareVision Color At Night series includes 4MP
(megapixel) and 8MP models with a fixed 2.8mm lens in
either bullet or turret style, as well as 8MP models in bullet
or turret style with a motorized 2.7mm-13.5mm varifocal lens.
The 8MP models can record up to 4K resolution at 25 frames
per second. The 4MP models come with a 32GB micro SD
memory card and both the 4MP and 8MP models support
micro SD cards up to 512GB.
CPI Wins $189M Verdict Against Vivint Smart Home
IN A SIGNIFICANT turn of
events, CPI Security has
officially won its lawsuit
against Vivint Smart Home
to the tune of $189 million
in damages. The verdict was
delivered unanimously by
an eight-person jury in the
U.S. District Court Western
District of North Carolina
Charlotte Division, finding
that Vivint Smart Home
responsible for using deceptive
door-to-door sales
practices to mislead and

confuse CPI customers, so
that Vivint could take over
their alarm systems.
" While we're thrilled the
trial ended in our favor, I
want to be clear that this
case is not just about CPI's
business, " CPI Security CEO
and founder Ken Gill said.
" We believe for at least
15 years, Vivint has been
taking advantage of vulnerable
people across the
country through deceptive,
misleading, and flat-out
false practices. I hope today's
verdict will stop their
deception for good. "
According to initial lawsuit
started back in September
2020, Vivint used false
or misleading information to
acquire existing CPI Security
customers and lock them
into high-priced, multi-year
finance and monitoring
contracts with Vivint.
After signing contracts
under the false pretense of
Vivint's scams, customers
would later come to realize
that Vivint's claims were untrue.
However, Vivint made
it difficult for customers to
cancel their contracts. This
led to many CPI customers
being frustrated with both
Vivint and CPI Security,
despite CPI having no
affiliation with Vivint or the
schemes they used.
CPI presented evidence
and witnesses in the trial to
demonstrate alleged egregious
practices by Vivint.
