delivered well defined, powerful low frequencies with highly
detailed tight, immersive audio.
The Barco, Seymour Screen Excellence, Kaleidescape, and
madVR video side of the theater was equally impressive.
Colors were deeply saturated without a loss of detail, the
image was bright, and there was no visible image noise to be
seen on a very large screen.
Indy Audio Labs (Aragon & Acurus)/MSE Audio/AWOL Vision
- Showing what would be considered a modestly priced
immersive audio system by CEDIA Expo 2023 standards
Indy Audio Labs's Demo featured an Acurus processor that
handled the system's immersive audio processing duties, while
the latest version of MSE Audio's dARTS system handled the
amplification and speaker side of the audio equation.
On the video side of the equation, the AWOL Vision UST
projector lived up to the reputation it has quickly developed
in the home AV market as a premier projector company. A
nice surprise in the room was an excellent stereo demo that
featured electronics from Aragon and speakers from Phase
Technology.
Just Add Power - J+P highlighted its newest AV-over-IP
distribution products, including its MaxColor 4K60 Series
2 MC-TX2 transmitter and MC-RX2 receivers via a gaming
demo, which showed off the product's ARC and USB features.
The key, says Chief Sales Officer Taft Stricklin, is the zero-detectable
latency, Dolby Vision, HDR 10 4K60 4:4:4 bandwidth.
To top it off, it's also PoE-powered and only 5 watts.
" We do highest common denominator, " Stricklin says. " If
you go tin a project and you have screens that are 4K60 and
some screens that are only 4K30, or maybe something that's
1080p, we'll send 4K60 to every receiver. If the TV's 4K60,
that's what it gets. If it's 4K30, we downscale the receiver,
and we do the same thing for 1080p. "
Kaleidescape - Kaleidescape has earned the role as the
de facto source solution for many of the top home theater
equipment manufacturers, with systems used in 40 exhibits.
Harman Luxury Audio
One of the most entertaining demos was in Kaleidescape's
own booth.
This system featured a large Quantum Media Displays
MicroLED video wall showing concert videos from Sting and
Def Leppard. Meyer Sound provided the sound and it was
impressive. The display was calibrated for its booth location,
which featured lots of ambient light, and the audio was
calibrated to match the video.
Harman Luxury Audio - In addition to new JBL DA Series
Distribution Amplifiers and new additions to its line of JBL
Classic Series of audio products, Harman had several new
sleek-looking products, including the new L42ms integrated
music system.
The JBL L42ms features the signature sound of a pair of
JBL loudspeakers in a compact cabinet featuring a JBL Quadrex
curved grille, tapered side edges and a black or natural
walnut real-wood veneer finish. It features 200W RMS total
system power built-in and a 24-bit/96kHz DAC, two sets of
analog stereo inputs, HDMI-ARC, Ethernet, Apple Airplay,
Google Chromecast and Bluetooth.
In addition, the speaker can also integrate with Roon and
SmartThings. " Pair this with a 10-inch Classic Series subwoofer
and you've got a great setup that you can use for
gaming, music or whatever you want, " suggests Jim Garrett,
senior product marketing manager.

L-Acoustics - This French company is an A-list provider of
sound reinforcement systems for bands that include Dream
Theater and festivals such as Boston Calling and Bonnaroo.
Taking its professionally approved product development into
the residential realm the company showed an architectural
immersive audio system that included three of its X8 that
handled LCR duties, as well as a pair of Syva Subs for the
LFE; four L-Acoustics' X4i loudspeakers took care of the
system's surround responsibilities, and four more X4i speakers
were used to address the system's height channels. An
L-Acoustics LA7.16i multichannel amplifier provided power.
