Z-Wave Alliance Publishes
Source Code Project
THE Z-WAVE ALLIANCE, the Standards Development Organization
(SDO) dedicated to advancing the smart home and
Z-Wave technology, has announced the completion of the
Z-Wave Source Code project, which has been published and
made available on GitHub to Alliance members.
The Z-Wave Source Code Project opens development of
Z-Wave and enables members to contribute code to shape
the future of the protocol under the supervision of the new
OS Work Group (OSWG).
" The Z-Wave Alliance is deeply committed to the global
smart home market, " says Mitch Klein, executive director of
the Z-Wave Alliance. " This year the smart home conversations
have focused largely on Matter. Shiny and new, and with big
brands supporting the initiative, Matter is bringing a lot of
attention to the smart home. This makes it easy to overlook
Z-Wave as the most established, trusted, and secure smart
home protocol, that also happens to have the largest certified
interoperable ecosystem in the market. We firmly expect that
Z-Wave will play a key role in connecting devices and delivering
the experience users really want. "
The goal of the project is to provide a rich development
environment that contains the relevant source code and
sample applications to those seeking to play a direct role in
the advancement of the Z-Wave standard. The quality and
interoperability of products utilizing Z-Wave Source Code will
also be enforced by a new mandatory Silicon & Stack Certification
program. Full Z-Wave certification will continue to
test and certify for Z-Wave S2 security, network connectivity,
range, battery life, and interoperability including backwards
and forwards compatibility.
As the Alliance worked to complete the Source Code
project, Z-Wave experienced impressive growth achieving
milestones such as the availability of Z-Wave Long Range (LR)
certification, surpassing 4,100 certified Z-Wave devices in the
market, and seeing 90 million new Z-Wave devices enter the
market since 2020.
Draper Bolsters
Residential Sales Team
AS THE CUSTOM INTEGRATION industry continues to
experience a surge in motorized shades and home entertainment,
Draper has announced an outside sales team focused
solely on residential shading and AV. The team is part of the
Spiceland, Ind.-based company's ongoing effort to prioritize
the residential market.

Childress. Additionally,
the company rolled
out its Draper@Home
lineup at CEDIA Expo
2021 and followed
with even more options at CEDIA Expo 2022 in Dallas. Here's
a look at the four new residential sales managers.
Tom Brochard is the new Residential Regional Sales Manager,
Northeastern U.S. He has more than 22 years in the
consumer electronics industry with well-regarded organizations
including Snap One and Control4. He's been Draper's
northeast AV RSM since 2020.
Jesse Denhart is Residential Regional Sales Manager - Midwest
U.S. Denhart first joined Draper in 2015, with experience
at all levels of window shade manufacturing. She served most
recently as a field representative to Budget Blinds franchises.
Tabitha Quick is Residential Regional Sales Manager, South
Central U.S. Quick has been Draper's AV Regional Sales
Manager in the south-central region since 2020. Before joining
Draper, she had 12 years of experience in projection screen and
audiovisual product sales.
Tyler Reece is Residential Regional Sales Manager - Southwest
U.S. Reece has more than 12 years of manufacturing sales
experience and has been with Draper since 2019. He most
recently served as Key Accounts Manager.

HUNTER DOUGLAS has announced its latest portfolio expansion
for two of its most popular shade styles. The debut of
Silhouette Halo Shadings, along with new fabric and hardware
options for Luminette Privacy Sheers, deepens the customization
and design opportunities available to integrators, complemented
by the PowerView Gen 3 Automation system.
The new multifunctional Silhouette Halo Shadings prioritize
ambiance and privacy, combining the distinctive design
of the flagship Silhouette style with practical enhancements,
according to the company. Silhouette Halo Shadings retain
the style's innovative S-shaped fabric vanes, positioned
between two sheers, to create a soft radiance throughout a
room, Hunter Douglas says.
