Somfy Earns 'Works with WELL'
Trademark for Shade Motors & Controls
The distinction highlights the role
Somfy's products can play in creating
healthier occupant spaces in alignment
with the WELL Building Standard.

SOMFY SYSTEMS has
recently announced that
the company has attained
the " Works with WELL "
trademark in the category of
Motors and Controls in Motorized
Windows Shades.
Launched back in 2023,
the Works with WELL
trademark is meant to signify
a product's alignment
with at least one of the
health strategies outlined
in the WELL Building
Standard.
Following this news,
Somfy, a leading manufacturer
of motors for interior
window coverings and exterior
solar protections, also
announced it will be joining
the International WELL
Building Institute (IWBI) as
a manufacturer member.
Driven by the global
demand for healthier places
and healthier organizations
that support people to
thrive, WELL adoption has
grown exponentially since
its launch in 2014. As of
March 2024, WELL strategies
have been used in 5
billion square feet of spaces,

supporting the health and
well-being of an estimated
17 million people in more
than 36,000 locations spanning
over 120 countries.
The IWBI also recently
launched the WELL for
residential program with a
small pilot program of 25
participating builders.
Following third-party
certification, Somfy's
motors for window shades
were found to align with
four health strategies of the
WELL Building standard's
Light and Materials concept,
which include:
L05.2 Daylight Design
X05.1 Select Compliant
Interior Furnishings
X06.2 Restrict VOC
Emissions from Furniture,
Architectural and
Interior Products
X07.2 Select Products
with Enhanced Ingredient
Disclosure.

to Somfy Systems to use
the Works with WELL
trademark after Somfy
applied to IWBI and

It is worth noting that
using products labeled
'Works with WELL' does not
guarantee that a project
will achieve WELL certification,
a WELL Rating or any
standalone WELL feature,
according to the organization.
Instead, the Works with
WELL trademark is meant
to represent a marker for
products that align the same
health and wellness values
upheld by the standard.
WELL outlines key building-level
interventions and
organizational strategies
across 10 concept areas: Air,
Water, Nourishment, Light,
Movement, Thermal Comfort,
Sound, Materials, Mind
and Community.
