CEDIA Pushes for
Reclassification of
Custom Integrator
Leviton Reduces
Greenhouse Gas
Emissions 29%
CEDIA SAYS it is working
with industry, U.S. Congress
and other government
agencies to establish the
" Technology Integrator " job
class within the Standard
Occupational Classification
(SOC) set of codes.
According to the association,
integrators are misclassified
as a subsect of the
electrical trade. CEDIA views
this initiative as a crucial part
of its mission to support its
members and advance the
smart home industry.
The initiative comes as
the U.S. government is
reviewing the 2018 SOC
for potential revision in
2028. This review marks the
beginning of the revision
process, which includes
consideration of new detailed
occupations. CEDIA
wants integrators to be
recognized with a separate
SOC occupational code in
the revision that signifies
them with the Technology
Integrator job class.
According to Daryl Friedman,
CEDIA's global CEO and
president, integrators have
unique skills that should distinguish
them from all other
trades, including electricians.
" Their work encompasses
a broad range of expertise,
including networking,
audiovisual systems,
automation and smart home
technologies, which requires
an accurate and distinct
classification within the

CEDIA wants integrators
to be recognized
with a separate SOC
occupational code.

The organization is also
working with Congress to
create a letter of support
and is urging CEDIA members
and the community to
reach out to their Congressional
representatives.
The aim is to bring greater
awareness to the U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics
about the important of establishing
the occupational
code for the Technology
Integrator job class.
CEDIA is encouraging its
members to engage with
their Congressional leadership
by utilizing the template.
Members will receive
an email with the template
and a prompt to participate.

and industry partners to join
us in this critical advocacy
effort, " adds Friedman. " Your
support can make a significant
impact by reaching out
to Congressional leaders and
urging them to sign a letter
to the BLS, emphasizing the
need for this new detailed
occupational code. "
LEVITON HAS ANNOUNCED that it has successfully
dropped greenhouse gas emissions 29% in comparison to
its 2021 baseline year, highlighted in the company's recent
2023 Sustainability Report. The reduction was achieved
through several sustainability initiatives such as on-site
renewable energy generation, energy efficiency initiatives,
a move to more renewable energy providers, and investments
into carbon offset projects by Leviton.
Additional 2023 highlights in this year's report include:
Leviton's Network Solutions business unit achieved
carbon neutrality, with a 55% reduction in GHG emissions
from a 2021 baseline.
The number of CN2030 program carbon-neutral manufacturing
sites increased, growing from 9 in 2022 to 17 in 2023.
The Lighting Controls business unit reduced its carbon
emissions by 17% from the 2021 baseline year, and now has
two facilities that are CN2030 program carbon neutral.
The Commercial & Industrial business unit reduced
emissions by 8% from a 2021 baseline.
Two Leviton LIVE sites, where professionals can
directly experience Leviton solutions in real-time and
further their industry and product knowledge, are
now both CN2030 program carbon neutral.
The news has been widely celebrated by Leviton as the
company has larger aspirations of being a carbon neutral
company by 2030 with its CN2030 program.

Among the company's report, two Leviton LIVE sites
are now CN2030 program carbon neutral.
