Origin Acoustics Acquires Ambisonic Systems
AFTER YEARS of distributing
audio products from
luxury loudspeaker brand
Ambisonic Systems to a
worldwide audience, Origin
Acoustics has announced
plans to acquire the company.
Founded in 2009
by audio pioneer Jeffery
Coombs, Ambisonic Systems
specializes in high-output,
audiophile-quality sound
reinforcement loudspeakers.
With over 64 years of
experience in designing
professional and high-end
loudspeakers - specializing
in ribbon-line arrays - the
company's engineering team
is known for its innovative
concepts, breakthrough
products and great sounding
speakers, Origin says.

with Jeff Coombs and his
team as their global distributor
was an eye-opener
for how truly unique their
products are. It opened the
door for us to add Ambisonic
Systems to our portfolio. Our

spent years producing gear
for the world's most exquisite
venues and theaters
from its factory in Lake
Havasu City, Ariz., where it
will remain in operation.
The company has taken

learned in that industry, its
heritage of designing worldclass
systems, and distilled
it into its wide range of
products. The full range of
Ambisonic Systems high-performance
loudspeakers
includes a line of outdoor
audio solutions designed
for any situation or location,
including custom outdoor
soundbars, weatherized
line-arrays, triple-bandpass
burial subwoofers, and more.

at the recent CEDIA
Expo 2021.
Bowers & Wilkins Launches 800 Series Diamond Range of Speakers
WHILE Bowers & Wilkins is
well known for its 800 series
of speakers, the company has
announced a new line, the
800 Series Diamond range
of speakers, which include a
re-imagining of the conventional
loudspeaker drive unit
using the company's proprietary
Biomimetic Suspension
system.
The new 800 Series
The 800 Series Diamonds
are available in a spectrum
of configurations
with pricing between
$8,000 and $35,000.
Diamond series continues to
feature seven models beginning
with the two-way 805
D4 stand-mount speaker at
$8,000 up to the flagship
model 801 D4U at $35,000.
In addition, the company has
a series of three-way floorstanding models, including the 804
D4, 803 D4 and 802 D4. For home theater use, the HTM81
D4 and HTM82 D4 provide a pair of high-performance center
channel speakers to complete the range.
According to Bowers & Wilkins, each new model in the
range combines hundreds of detail improvements plus several
entirely new technologies.

The company says the 800 Series Diamond range features
refined, elegant cabinet proportions plus luxurious, premium
detailing including a new Satin Walnut finish, joining the established
selection of Gloss Black, White and Satin Rosenut.
Every stereo model in the range has an upgraded cabinet
design with an all-new rigid, cast aluminum top section -
replacing the previous wooden version. The profile of the new
aluminum top is finished in 'Leather by Connolly' - in black
for dark cabinets (Black, Satin Rosenut) and light gray for lighter
finishes (White, Satin Walnut).
Every model in the range adopts a revised version of the
company's Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing, with a new,
elongated tube-loading system. This stiff enclosure resists
unwanted resonance and produces exceptional acoustics,
according to the company, especially when combined with a
new two-point decoupling system that isolates it from the
rest of the loudspeaker. As before, the Solid Body Tweeter
is milled from a single solid block of aluminum and now, it
uses an anodized finish, either dark or light depending on the
cabinet color.
Finally, the range introduces three entirely new cabinet
forms. The 805 D4 and 804 D4 stereo models adopt the
reverse-wrap cabinet design first introduced in 2015 for
the larger speakers in the series. This new form reduces the
profile of each cabinet's front baffle while increasing the
overall rigidity.
