HETMA Announces Prism Scholarship at InfoComm 2021
AS PART OF ITS DEDICATION
to diversity, equity, and inclusion,
HETMA (Higher Enducation
Technology Managers
Alliance), with the support of
AVIXA, has created the Prism
Scholarship to support the
growth of underrepresented
communities within the U.S.
higher education technology
workforce.
The intent of the Prism Scholarship
is to encourage women,
LGBTQIA+, Black, Latino,
Asian, Indigenous, disabled
persons, and others to become
active leaders and role models
for technology managers in the
higher education space. Recipients
will be recognized as an
individual who is determined to
leave their mark as an AV professional,
has demonstrated a
commitment to their continued
education, and displays a passion
for both higher education
and the experiences that audiovisual
technology creates.
Scored, chosen, and distributed
solely by HETMA's discretion,
the scholarship will include
a one-year Elite Membership to
AVIXA, inclusive of the entire online
catalog of education, access
to a virtual Certified Technology
Specialist (CTS) prep course and
course materials, the coverage
of exam fees for the CTS exam,
a mentorship by a HETMA
member, and a trip to a future
InfoComm show, according to a
statement by AVIXA.

and offer support to those in
the higher education vertical
who may not have career
growth opportunities at their
respective institutions, " says
Joe Way, PhD, CTS, Director
of Learning Environments, Information
Technology Services,
University of Southern California,
and Chair of HETMA.

a tangible way to impact lives
and truly invest in our industry's
underrepresented people. "

Additionally, The Prism
Scholarship will include 10
recipients for the year 2022
while applications open in
December 2021.
HETMA's new Prism Scholarship is aimed at promoting more
diversity in the AV industry.

Al-Bayaty
VuWall announced
the
appointment of
Fadhl Al-Bayaty
as director of
product management.
" Fadhl is the ideal choice to
break new ground in leading
product management efforts
for our entire line, " says Paul
Vander Plaetse, founder and
CEO of VuWall. " He comes to
us with a deep knowledge of
the industry, years of relevant
experience and a hands-on
approach that will make an
immediate impact. "
Al-Bayaty has a master's
degree in software engineering
from Concordia University.
He was formerly with Matrox,
commercialintegrator.com
serving in a progression
of roles including
applications engineer, product
manager and business development
manager.
In his leadership role,
Al-Bayaty will head product
strategy for the entire life cycle
of every product in VuWall's
ecosystem, ensuring interoperability
between all products as
well as many third-party solutions.
He will also be responsible
for maintaining the product
vision and strengthening the
VuWall product roadmap.
Additionally, he will oversee
product marketing efforts,
working in collaboration with
the marketing team for product
launches and educating the
market on new technology and
solutions.

QSC's Cory
Schaeffer
received the
prestigious Adele
De Berri Pioneer
of AV Award from AVIXA at
InfoComm 2021.
The Adele De Berri Award
highlights the AV and information
communications industries
by recognizing pioneers who
made scientific breakthroughs
resulting in new AV technologies
that impacted the
manufacture and sales of novel
products enjoyed by audiences
worldwide.
" The impacts of Cory's
contributions to AV are evident
across the industry, " remarked
Anna Csontos, executive vice
president, chief market officer,
and chief of staff, QSC. " She
possesses the hallmarks of a
transformational leader and pioneer
including deep technical
knowledge and experience,
a strategic mindset, and a
passion for championing and
mentoring others. "
Schaeffer started her career
as a business unit manager at
ClearOne, and then co-founded
Listen Technologies, acting
as Vice President of Business
Development. She then
became Vice President of Sales
at Harman and served two
terms on the AVIXA Board of
Directors.
Schaeffer began working at
QSC in 2015 and has held several
executive roles contributing
to the growth of the Q-SYS
Platform and build out of the
Q-SYS Ecosystem.
