DESIGN SHOWCASE
INDEPENDENT LIVING AND AMENITY SPACE
The Davis Community Wilmington, N.C.

The Davis Community's healthcare focus
had served them well with an existing Skilled
Nursing and Assisted Living campus. Looking
forward to a new generation leadership knew
they needed to reimagine their community
with more than just new buildings. They had
an opportunity, land, and a great setting set in
the lush pines near Wilmington's beaches, and
in response the leadership imagined a community
based on Healthy Living, community
events, and good food. Creating this destination
would allow them to attract residents, their
families, and friends of those residents as well
as the surrounding community.
Central to their vision was " The Promenade, "
a community center linking the Cottages,
Independent Living apartments, and
green spaces. Davis opened the Promenade
to external users with a world-class fi tness
center, multiple dining venues, a spa, and
both indoor and outdoor event spaces. The
Promenade already boasts over 1,200 members
and concerts and weddings planned
for this year!
Residents can choose between Cottages
and " The Residences " Apartments.
The Cottages, styled in mini-neighborhoods,
maximize a narrow site with beach house
charm, wooded backyards, garages, and
open layouts with a short walk to amenities.
The Residences apartments range from 650
to 1,300 square feet and are conveniently
designed around covered parking, dining
areas, and social spaces such as fl ex-theater,
game room, bar, art area and demonstration
kitchen, and many more spaces.
Expansive green spaces connect the old
and new parts of The Davis Community, with
The Promenade serving as the campus heart,
seamlessly integrating Independent Living
and the greater Wilmington community with
Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.
