KDA ARCHITECTS
KDA has been working together with FellowshipLIFE
and their residents on their Basking
Ridge campus for the past decade, redeveloping
all areas of the community. Completed
projects include additions and renovations to
the Health Center, remodeling of the assisted
living apartments, and the addition of the
256-seat theater.
Imagining and programming together, the
design team created a Wellness and Fitness
Center to service both residents and the greater
community. The Vibe| Fitness Health and Beauty
is a new 14,000-square-foot building addition
with services and amenities that rival standalone
franchises. The carefully sited addition
maintains natural daylight and views of the
expansive wetland landscape from the existing
neighboring independent living apartments,
as well as the new addition spaces. A primary
design feature was the implementation of an
inverted butterfly-shaped roof to maximize
views out while also allowing daylight deep into
the interior. The interior design features include
connotations of physical movement expressed
in the curving edged wood ceiling, large custom
wall mural, and the layered curving reception
desk which solicits engagement and a feeling
of connection and well-being within the space.
The lower-level Day-Spa ensures members
experience a therapeutic environment that
soothes and revitalizes the mind, body, and
spirit. The Salon suite offers upscale hair styling,
shampoo, wig, mani-pedi, barber facilities, and
an innovative Special Events room that is fit-out
to provide resident groups or family members
a private salon experience. The design truly
embraces FellowshipLIFE's motto to 'Enrich/
Transform/Empower' the lives and well-being
of their residents.
