In what sector of senior living do you
expect to see the most growth in the next
few years?
We've been having conversations with lots of clients
that are trying to reach the " missing middle " of senior
housing. Not only in terms of the price point-a typical
barrier to entry-but also in terms of transitional care
models. As the population continues to age, trying
to develop alternatives to traditional assisted living,
options that foster independent living for longer, will
become more and more a precursor to full assisted
living. Assisted living, I predict, will also grow to serve
higher acuity residents for longer.

Tell us something surprising about your
company that people may not know.
People sometimes think that because we're a small
shop, large-scale projects may overload us. The
reality is, my background and the foundation of my
career was built on large-scale senior living campuses.
Further, we leverage our size to ensure that we're a
quality-over-quantity firm; we don't take on more than
we can handle. This affords our clients an experienced
architect dedicated to their project daily. Our responsiveness
is second to none.

In what sector of senior living do you expect
to see the most growth in the next few years?
Boomers have guided our industry direction for
two decades. From post-war economic strength,
redefining culture and self-actualization through
economic downturns and uncertainty, the industry
recognizes the dynamic shift of Boomers coming of
age while acknowledging the role of Gen Xers. We
never stop learning. Bridging gaps between multifamily
housing and independent living with active
adult communities continues to be at the forefront of
growth. I envision active adult continuing to reimagine
itself and assist the middle market senior experiencing
retirement economic challenges. My take-away is that
what we do matters! Beautiful communities, wonderful
programs, and easily obtainable for all seniors.
Tell us something surprising about your
company that people may not know.
We assisted with the planning and logistics of the
inaugural ALFA conference in 1991. With a 35-year
history of active participation in our industry's growth,
we are proud to have valued partners resulting in
projects located in 26 states, Canada, England,
Germany, and China. Designing For-Profit and Notfor-Profit
projects gives us a full spectrum of experience.
We continue to advocate for our client and the
industry to represent the needs of your communities.
Evident still today is the need to educate lawmakers
and the public to make senior living a priority..
