Wilderness Magashi Peninsula
Rwanda
Wilderness Magashi Peninsula, a luxury safari lodge opening in September in Akagera
National Park, is an intimate escape designed by Cape Town, South Africa-based Artichoke
Interior Design, Luxury Frontiers, and the Wilderness in-house team. The retreat features
an eight-bed layout, including a four-bed villa, all equipped with private plunge pools and
breathtaking views of Lake Rwanyakazinga and the Mutumba Mountains. Guests can also
enjoy bespoke dining, wellness treatments, night drives, and water-based excursions while
supporting conservation initiatives.
Desert Rock
Saudi Arabia
Inspired by the rock-carved architecture of the Nabataean civilization, Desert Rock-
the recently opened luxury resort by Oppenheim Architecture and Red Sea Global-
immerses guests in nature, off ering 64 villas and suites etched into the Hejaz Mountains
of western Saudi Arabia. Incorporating luxe details with a deep connection to the desert
environment, highlights of the property include cliff side pools, private retreats, and
passive cooling systems that enhance sustainability initiatives.
Park Hyatt Johannesburg
The former Winston Hotel in Rosebank will emerge as the Park Hyatt Johannesburg
this March. The reimagined hotel, the handiwork of Yabu Pushelberg, HBA, and
Stephen Falcke Interior Design Consultancy, will feature 30 guestrooms and suites
outfi tt ed with workstations, catering to both leisure and business travelers. Guests will
be able to enjoy al fresco dining at the restaurant's outdoor terrace overlooking the pool
or unwind in the atmospheric bar with its open-air courtyard.
Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp
Zambia
Kafue National Park in western Zambia is one of the largest reserves in Africa. Here,
on the banks of the Kafue River, the luxury safari camp from Anantara is expected to
arrive early this year. Suspended 11 feet above the bush, the retreat by Johannesburgbased
fi rm Meg Ralph Spaces comprises 12 tents, including the nearly 6,500-squarefoot
presidential villa, each equipped with a private plunge pool. The eco-friendly
property is fl anked by two islands and will off er a spa, pool, lounge, restaurant and
bar, and traditional African boma.
andBeyond Suyian Lodge
Laikipia, Kenya
Blending earthy materials with Afro wabi-sabi infl uences, the forthcoming
andBeyond Suyian refl ects a deep respect for nature's impermanence, while Samburuinspired
cultural elements and locally craſt ed furnishings add authenticity. Designed
with longtime collaborator Fox Browne Creative, the 14 suites, integrated into rocky
formations, will feature private plunge pools and terraces, while the central guest area
off ers a vantage point to take in the sanctuary's diverse habitats and abundant wildlife.
