Healthcare Design will celebrate the winners of
its Healthcare Design Showcase, Remodel/Renovation
Competition, The HCD 10, and Rising
Star awards. Editor-in-chief Anne DiNardo will
emcee the luncheon open to all attendees.
MONDAY, OCT. 7, 8-9:15 A.M.
DAY 2 KEYNOTE
This morning's presentation will include the
introduction of the Walter B. Jones, FAIA,
Excellence Award for Aspiring Healthcare
Architects. Then, a panel discussion, " Nurturing
the Next Generation of Talent to Innovate
Health Equity, " moderated by Healthcare
Design Brand Director Jennifer Kovacs Silvis,
will discuss The Joint Commission's National
Patient Safety Goals program to improve
healthcare equity.
MONDAY, OCT. 7, 2:15-3:30 P.M.
BREAKING THROUGH FINALE
Healthcare Design's conceptual design competition
focused on innovation and imagination will
bring four teams to the Main Ballroom stage for
the final round of the program. The teams will
present their concepts live, and audience members
will vote for their favorite in real time. The
winner will receive a $10,000 grand prize.

The HCD Conference provides an opportunity for attendees to gain insight into recent innovations
of healthcare facilities in the host city. This year's conference offers five tour options on Saturday,

T01 - ESKENAZI HEALTH
CENTER GRANDE: COMMUNITY
HEALTH CENTER
Eskenazi Health's new
95,000-square-foot health
center offers comprehensive
medical services and
a community center. The
LEED Silver-certified facility
emphasizes community
engagement with a robust
art program featuring local
artists and programs to
identify social determinants
of health within inner city
patient populations.
T02 - FRANCISCAN HEALTH
ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITAL
CARMEL
Operated by Franciscan
Health and Forte Sports
Medicine, the Franciscan
Orthopedic Hospital in
Carmel, Ind., includes a hospital,
medical office building,
and ambulatory surgery
center. Sustainable materials
create a modern healing
environment, complemented
by an extensive rehabilitation
center and dedicated
research area.
T03 - INDIANA UNIVERSITY
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE -
MEDICAL EDUCATION AND
RESEARCH BUILDING
The 330,000-square-foot,
11-story facility is colocated
with IU Health's new downtown
Indianapolis hospital,
which is expected to open in
January 2025. The building
aligns IU Health's interdisciplinary
care with the medical
school's team-based instruction.
Attendees will tour
spaces designed to support
the future of medical education
and research, including
simulation labs and a medical
library.
T04 - NEURODIAGNOSTIC
INSTITUTE AND ADVANCED
TREATMENT CENTER
As Indiana's first new state
mental hospital since 1952,
this center is the flagship of
Indiana's network of stateoperated
mental health
facilities. The tour will
explore how it overcomes
design challenges in
behavioral health environments
with antiligature,
tamper-proof, and pick-proof
features. The tour is limited to
45 people.
T05 - ASCENSION HEALTH ST.
VINCENT HOSPITAL, WOMEN
AND INFANT'S HOSPITAL
The 280,000-square-foot replacement
hospital includes
a 30-bed mother/baby unit,
OB/GYN and pediatric
emergency departments,
and a specialty pediatric
intensive care unit. The
facility tour will focus on
design strategies that promote
family-centered care,
stakeholder collaboration,
and operational transition to
a new building.
