CELEBRATIONS NOW AND TO COME

he NKBA turned 60 this year, and KBIS celebrates its 60th in 2024,
but thank goodness I still have a few years until I hit that milestone.
A diamond as a gift would be lost on me for that birthday, so I will
settle for a cute carryon travel bag for my 52 years this month.
In keeping with our birthday tradition, I joined my dad, stepmom
and some dear friends in Florida to celebrate. We rented the same
house as last year with the amazing kitchen, and I couldn't wait to try my
hand at a recipe for Spanish-style chicken and dumplings - it was great!
It's only September now, but before we know it 2024 will be here, and
we will all be attending KBIS again in late February. Th is will be my 10th
show, and I am again looking forward to spending time with my designer
friends and catching up on all the latest kitchen and bath off erings.
We polled some attendees in this issue to see what they were getting excited
about for KBIS 2024, and their answers run the gamut from giggling
with delight at new trends to making new connections to coming face to
face with the fabulous booth designs that seem to go a step further each year.
Some KBIS attendees look to the show to get their entire team's opinion
on what resonated most with them.
Our winners of the 2024 Product Awards encompass some amazing
products, and I can't wait to see them up close and in person at next year's
KBIS. Wellness and color are two movements that aren't slowing down, as
seen with our overall kitchen and bath winners. We also gave awards for
a variety of product categories, including air quality (beautiful and functional),
countertops (an environmentally friendly material), cabinetry and
storage (the kitchen category had a tie), laundry products (something truly
innovative), outdoor off erings (a true workhorse of a product) and smart
innovation (all about hygiene).

But I may be getting ahead of myself, as between
now and next February, I have lots to do.
Professionally, my team and I will choose our
2023 KBB Person of the Year - an individual I
will interview at KBIS 2024 - and our Praiseworthy
Picks.
Personally, I am looking forward to spending
more time volunteering with the cats at
my Good Mews animal shelter, seeing MJ the
Musical with my dad and Kim in October, attending
my favorite wine fest in November and
of course celebrating all the rest of the holidays
this year.
All in due time, KBIS 2024, but I will be
ready. I hope to see you all there!
