7 Reasons You Should Be the Next NEWH
Green Voice Chapter Chair
Have you found your " why " in NEWH?
For members aiming to lead and do their part for the
environment and our industry, simply apply to be considered for
your local chapter's incoming NEWH Green Voice chair position.
NEWH engages a robust Green Voice committee to help grow the Green Voice community and
educational content for NEWH members and throughout the industry.
The chapter chair positions open up this year, so we asked current NEWH, Inc. Green Voice chair
Rachel Berkin, Sustainability Product Manager at Tarkett Hospitality, to give the " why " behind
considering the opportunity.
She shares seven major reasons to rise to the moment:

1. Connect with the NEWH community. That means building and growing strong
relationships with NEWH leaders, members, sponsors, and partners.
2. Learn from the greater NEWH community. It's all about exchanging ideas through chairing
and attending monthly Green Voice committee meetings with dedicated members.
3. Engage with national initiatives. NEWH creates partnerships with industry shows, events,
and our own national efforts that can and will benefit from your leadership and assistance.
4. Share best practices across NEWH. Cross-pollinate ideas with committee members and
stakeholders.
5. Lead the review and assessment of all Green Voice education, events, and tours. Place
your stamp on the future by ensuring current and upcoming Green Voice initiatives sync with
Green Voice pillars of climate, health, and equity.
6. Ideate and create an annual Green Voice event. Shape a signature event such as a park
or conservancy cleanup, sustainable building tour, speaking engagement with a sustainability
leader, and/or rising professionals networking event on sustainable causes.
7. Finally, align your volunteerism and values. NEWH Green Voice is focused on climate,
health, equity. If those reflect your POV, you are a perfect fit as your chapter's next chair!
