What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement, both personally
and professionally?
The ability to network with a wide range of professionals across the industry has been so impactful. As a
relative newbie to hospitality, getting to know people who work in different capacities in the industry has
helped bring me up to speed much quicker than without this exposure.
What would surprise people about you?
Most people guess correctly that I am a 99 percent expressed extrovert, but may be surprised to know
that I am not like that 100 percent of the time. I come home from any event where I've been " on " for
prolonged periods of time and happily retreat to a cone of silence and solitude.

What would people be interested to know about your company?
Milliken is a remarkable company known for integrity, innovation, and sustainability. Our Modular
Landscapes approach combines unlimited aesthetic possibilities with the practical waste and costs
savings inherent to modular flooring. We are the only company in the world that can print carpet inregister,
which allows for large-scale patterns on tile for public spaces, and the creation of true area rug
looks with inset carpet tile. Our latest Printworks technology achieves over 100,000 color possibilities,
and can incorporate 4,000 colors in a single square meter!
Where do you find inspiration, both inside and outside the industry?
Most of my inspiration comes from talking to people from different walks of life, cultures, industries, life
phases, etc. I love meeting new people and learning from their experience. Listening to others is the best
way to get a pulse for what is happening around you, and once you hear the same theme repeated more
than a few times from different people, you're likely on to something that needs a solution.
Why do you recommend people get involved with NEWH?
First and foremost, the people. It's an incredible group of professionals that make work fun, but also the
opportunities NEWH provides for networking, career development, and education are second to none.
What are you looking forward to in the next year?
I look forward to putting out the new programing being developed by the Education committee at large
and seeing how the curriculum evolves over time. A diverse mix of minds is working on materials aimed at
getting new designers up to speed on hospitality-specific knowledge faster. We have heard how impactful
assisting with this training will be to the brands, design firms, and manufacturers, so it's exciting to work
on such a value-added project for NEWH.
When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?
More than likely, I am outdoors on a neighborhood or nature walk with my family. We all love to be outside
and are lucky to live in South Carolina where the weather permits it for the majority of the year..
