Tarkett Hospitality continues to make bold statements

A
t the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, recently renovated by Rottet
Studio, elegant carpeting flaunting organic shapes in a classic black
and white scheme adorns the public spaces. By contrast, bright,
graphic, digital dye-injected rugs spruce up the Gensler-designed Reverb
by Hard Rock Downtown Atlanta. Both vignettes come courtesy of Tarkett
Hospitality, the vertically integrated, Dalton, Georgia-based company behind
a multitude of soft and hard surface flooring options.
Born in 2018, when the French corporation Tarkett acquired Lexmark,
Tarkett Hospitality has grown rapidly over the last five years, revealing its
breadth of expertise through collaborations with heavyweight brands such as
Choice, Hilton, IHG, and Marriott. Like the Cradle to Cradle-certified Tarkett
(encompassing the commercial, residential, and sports divisions), identified
as an industry leader by MindClick's Sustainability Assessment Program
and the first flooring producer to sign the U.N. Global Compact in 2010, the
hospitality arm keeps sustainability top of mind throughout the design and
production processes.
" We are a little different in that I believe we are the only manufacturer to
have Axminster, tufted broadloom, wall base, carpet tile, and LVT products
that are wholly owned by Tarkett; we don't source them from somebody
else. We make them in our facilities around the world, " explains Kim Drautz,
president of Tarkett Hospitality.
This robust portfolio, says Ericka Whitaker, senior director
of marketing and strategy, means that Tarkett Hospitality can
serve as " a one-stop shop. We are coordinating everything
you need for a total flooring solution. Even from a value and
budget perspective, there's agility in timing with so many of
our products being made in Dalton. "
Tarkett Hospitality is fueled by custom works, so textile
designers are in constant communication with design firms,
dreaming up carpets that showcase everything from ombré
motifs to abstract geometrics to neutrals invigorated by
swirls of color. Although many of the bigger, luxury hotel
brands tend to focus on quiet rugs as grounding décor,
Amber Osiecki, Tarkett Hospitality's creative director, is
noticing a spike of daring designs among the independent
and soft-branded set. " We are seeing more rugs that are
statement pieces, artworks on the floor, " she points out. One
example is DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Anaheim - Orange
County, for which Tarkett Hospitality graced corridors
with guitar strings that elicit " a subtle but moody " vibe, as
Osiecki puts it, and created a high-contrast black and white
palm leaf print for the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Nashville
Downtown that speaks to a market increasingly seeking out
experiential hotels.
