CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS
Atlantic City/Philadelphia Region
The region awarded two $10,000 scholarships in 2023 to Grace Schuler and Aurora Tellekamp. We are currently in the application reviewing process for our 2024 winners
and will be awarding $7,500 to each student. We cannot wait to host our Scholarship Award event in December. We have also been busy planning a wide variety of events for
2024 and are enjoying hosting events both for fundraising and networking within the industry. The region has also raised $1,000 selling adorable custom NEWH hats. All of the
proceeds go towards our scholarship fund.
In March, we brought back a region favorite-the March Mentorship program. This event has been held multiple times in the past with great success. Students and
professionals sign up and are randomly paired with the goal of networking and industry exposure. Students can receive mentorship on the topics that interest them, such as
resume and portfolio reviews, office tours, " a day in the life " shadowing, or simply coffee meet and greets. The casual nature of this program makes it easy for students and
mentors to connect on their own time and allows students to understand the industry on a more realistic level.
In April, we hosted the Stretch and Sip fundraising event that incorporated yoga and wellness at City Fitness in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia, followed by food,
drinks, and networking at Urban Saloon next door.
In June, a private tour of the brand new YOWIE Hotel, located in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood included stops in the lobby and boutique rooms, as well as an after-hours
event in the YOWIE retail store. This unique property impresses with its bright colors and bold patterns.
Throughout the summer, we will have multiple networking events throughout Philadelphia as part of our Summer Sips series. Held throughout the city, they are a way to
see new hospitality venues and network with colleagues. This series has proven to be successful in the past and we hope to keep this tradition alive for years to come.
In October, the region will be hosting our extravagant Gala. While details are still in the works, this event aims to raise money for our scholarship fund as well as bringing
together hospitality industry professionals in an elegant and upscale fashion. Wrapping up the year, we will be hosting our annual TopID presentation and scholarship
awards! This is a wonderful way for us to celebrate a successful year, honor the stunning work of our TopID firms, and celebrate the scholarship winners' well-deserved
achievement.
