Remembering Jeffrey Beers
Jeff rey Beers, the founder and CEO of New York firm Jeff rey Beers International (JBI), passed away in March at
the age of 67 after a battle with cancer. Throughout his career, Beers made a profound impact on hospitality design,
the architectural industry, and countless communities around the world. His dedication to excellence, innovation, and
integrity along with his creative genius and compassionate leadership shaped JBI into the renowned studio it is today. In
1986, the formation of JBI brought Beers' signature sensibility to some of New York's most vibrant restaurants (including
the new iteration of chef Daniel Boulud's Café Boulud). Beers then expanded into hotels, resorts, and residences, and
worked on such projects as the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, 108 Leonard, and the Hard Rock Hotel New York.
Goodbye to Debbie Lawrence
It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to an amazing woman, Debbie Lawrence, who passed away in February. A devoted
mother, wife, friend, a longtime fixture in the Las Vegas hospitality design community, and a woman of boundless joy and spirit,
Debbie will be missed beyond measure. She launched her company, D Lawrence Hospitality, in 2012. Her discerning eye for
beauty, sunny personality and unflagging sense of humor earned her numerous friends within the industry, both in Las Vegas and
around the country. Deb was an inspiration to all who knew her, showing the greatest kindness and caring to all around her. Strong,
tenacious, and always willing to support and uplift people, especially women, she was an icon in the design industry. She always
had time to speak with and encourage a fellow vendor and was always willing to befriend and mentor designers, whether new or
experienced. Debbie will always have a special place in our hearts and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by Scott, her husband of 38 years; her daughter, Taylor; and her brothers Robert (Diana) and Richard (Mary).
She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Alex.

member and scholarships recipient Kseniia
Riasnianskaia, an interior designer, is now
the chapter's director of student relations to
contribute to the industry and promote the
NEWH legacy among a new generation.
11. Chacko Hospitality Floors welcomes sales
representatives Jill Ouradnik and Frank Walsh
in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North and South
Dakota; and Susan Trau of Design Source 360
in Georgia.
