Pizzeria of the Year Tony Gemignani
to Headline Pizza Expo 2023!
recently ranked number two in the
United States and number 10 in the
world by Italy's " 50 Top Pizza's " .
Tony was the fi rst American to win
the title of World Champion Pizza
Maker at the World Cup in Naples,
Italy. He also holds two Guinness
Book of World Records, one for
creating the largest pizza and
another for performing the most
consecutive rolls of pizza dough
across the back of his shoulders.
If these weren't enough accolades,
the city of Naples named Tony as
their offi cial U.S. Ambassador for
Neapolitan Pizza.
As a testament to his business

n the past, Pizza Expo opening
keynote speakers have included
some big names in business
and food. Th is year is no exception,
Tony Gemignani is a Master
Pizzaiolo, acclaimed chef and owner
of more than 30 restaurants and Th e
International School of Pizza. Th e
13-time World Pizza Champion has
become a household name in the
world of pizza, and he is considered
by many as the Michael Jordan of our
industry. He's authored or
co-authored three books including
his most recent book Th e Pizza Bible,
which is a consumer guide to making
pizza, covering nine diff erent regional
styles.
His pizzeria, Tony's Pizzeria
Napoletana has been named
America's best pizzeria by USA
Today, the Travel Channel and
Forbes, named Pizza Today's 2022
Pizzeria of the Year and it was

acumen and prowess, his fl agship
pizzeria routinely averages more
than $1 million in total sales per
month out of a single location.
Th ose who know him say it's his
drive for perfection that's led to his
success and achievements. Tony
almost single handily revitalized
his corner of San Francisco's North
Beach with Tony's Pizza Napoletana
and its adjoining Slice House. It's
also home to his school where he has
trained chefs from all over the world.
Now after 32 years in the pizza
industry, he's going to focus most
of his energy and time on growing
his Slice House franchise. He's had
multi-units with Pizza Rock and
concepts in North Beach, California,
Slice Houses in the bay Area, along
with licenses in football and baseball
stadiums, casinos, and basketball
arenas. Development, training,
culture, philosophy and growing are
going to be at the forefront of his
next chapter in his life. Th e fi rst Slice
House franchise unit, which will off er
over 20 pizza combinations that can
come on any style of pizza, including
Detroit, Grandma, New York,
Sicilian, and Gluten-free, is scheduled
to open in Th ousand Oaks, California
in early 2023.

address, as well as his Making Dough
& Pizzas with Tony G workshop
Wednesday, March 29. Sure, you
could develop one dough recipe and
off er only one style of pizza. But how
adventurous is that? In this workshop,
Tony will help attendees navigate the
ins and outs of off ering multiple pizza
styles to their customers. He'll go over
what you need, what you don't and
how to make a seamless transition
without a hitch.
I like to think that attending Pizza
Expo will be one of, if not the best,
investments of time and money that
you'll make. Th e bottom line is there's
always something new at Pizza Expo
that can improve your restaurant.
