Antaira Provides Remote Management
An integrator had an end user requesting remote site monitoring
at a farmland in Northern California. The remote surveillance
project required the use of high-power pan/tilt/zoom cameras
with advanced video analytics, wipers and white lights along the
perimeter of the farmland property to help capture a vehicle's
color, make/model, and license plate information. The integrator
of this project decided to also use a cellular modem to transmit
the video from the surveillance system to its main offi ce in the
city as a method to monitor the site.
In addition, a fi ber network was created around the farmland's
perimeter using fi ber as a backbone for long-distance
communication. The application required a minimum of eight
Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) ports and up to four SFP fi ber
slots on the network switch. To accomplish this, the integrators
turned to Antaira's LMP-1204G-SFP-bt-24-T-BOS low-voltage
PoE switch.
Since the farmland is a remote location, solar panels were
the most ideal power source for keeping the surveillance system
up and running. The solar power solution utilized a 24VDC
output, which required Antaira's industrial Ethernet switch to
be powered by a low power input. Also, the cameras located
around the farmland were powered by the solar panels allowing
them to stay connected to the network with minimal downtime.
Antaira's PoE switch connects to the 24VDC power source
and boosts power internally from 24VDC to the required 57VDC.

A national convenience store chain was looking to quickly
identify and address growing safety concerns in its retail establishments.
Concerns included staff safety from robberies and
unruly patrons to growing drug use and vagrancy in restrooms.
It struggled to fi nd a cost-eff ective solution that addressed
privacy laws but also protected employees and facilities. It also
wanted centralization of data and the ability to respond and
monitor from a central security operations center (SOC).
The chain already had cameras on the registers and counters,
as well as some on store common areas, but nothing in
bathrooms. Identifi cation of issues from camera feeds and
reliance on employees using in store or personal cellphones
created a lag in response. It also did not have audio communication,
gunshot or glass-break detection, people counting

had phones for employee

be easily accessed in
certain situations.
To meet its
demands, the chain
was introduced to
HALO 3C by an IPVideo integrator who initiated a pilot program
in multiple facilities. The surface mounting and ability to daisy
chain two HALOs on the same POE made it a very effi cient
installation and HALO had an integration with its VMS and
cameras, which was a prerequisite.

features, including the light bar.
The end user mentioned that in the past
when they had a situation where a camera
would stop communicating, they would
need to send someone out to unplug and
plug back in the Ethernet cable to reboot
the power to the PoE camera. Fortunately,
the Antaira switch features Ping Alive. In
the case of a camera becoming unresponsive,
Ping Alive will enable the automatic
reboot of a single PoE port in the event of an inactive edge device.

maintenance person to use the front panel DIP switch on the
device as an on/off lever to shut the power off to the specifi c
camera port, allowing them to safely remove the device without
needing the networking knowledge on how to access the switch
graphic user interface (GUI).
