NAPCO Joins Alliance

become a PASS Partner (Partner Alliance
for Safer Schools) as part of its commitment
to help provide more school and
campus solutions, in the face of the escalating
violence and tragedies nationwide.
PASS K-12 is a program that off ers
comprehensive information and objective
guidelines for securing school facilities,
created by a multidisciplinary team spanning
security, education, infrastructure,
and corporate sectors.
Founded by SIA and NSCA in 2014,
PASS presents the comprehensive tools
and insights needed for public safety and
security professionals; school administrators
and schoolboards, to work in concert
to implement a tiered school security
protection approach, from inside to the

Parks Study: Homeowners Want
Better Warranty Service
▶ DALLAS - These days, for many
consumers a good warranty service can
be as big of a selling point as the product
itself. So much so that more than over
two-thirds of consumers in a recent Parks
Associates study said they are interested
in a warranty service when they purchase
a professionally installed security system.
" Smart device owners are demonstrating
their interest in warranties in
addition to support and protections
for their connected devices as add-on
services, " says Frank Saldaña, research
analyst, Parks Associates. " Our research
shows that almost half of respondents
have purchased an extended warranty/
device protection service of some kind,
up 15% from Q2 2019. "
As part of the whitepaper, " Protect the
Connected Home: Home Security Meets
Personal Privacy, " the research, released
in partnership with Assurant, highlights
consumers' privacy concerns around
smart home devices and the opportunities
that pro monitoring security providers
have to off er warranty, cybersecurity
and other add-on services.
MetraAV Rebrands as Ethereal
▶ HOLLY HILL, Fla. - MetraAV, a provider
of a variety of residential and commercial
integration solutions including
surveillance cameras, NVRs and other
security devices, is updating its name
to Ethereal. The company was originally
conceived by 75+ year-old parent
company Metra Electronics as Ethereal
Home Theater back in 2001.
The former MetraAV had been a
switch from its Metra Home Theater
Group moniker a little less than two
years ago, as it expanded into the
commercial AV market while maintaining
its residential integration customers'
needs. Now grouped under Ethereal, the
solutions will include product lines from
brands Ethereal Home Theater, Velox,
Helios and Big Dog Power.
