STid Mobile
Access Control
Where instinctive access control and
high-security meet.
The smartphone is quickly replacing the traditional keys and
cards in access control. The technology increases operational
efficiency and offers a smooth access experience to users. The
intuitive nature of mobile access strongly reduces the usability
constraints of identification. Frederick Trujillo, Sales & Operations
Manager of STid, explains.
Why are smartphones replacing access badges?
How did you anticipate this change?
Frederick Trujillo: On average, employees use a badge 11 times
per day. This can be a real burden. The access control market is
demanding instinctive solutions that do away with the usability
constraints of identification. Simplifying the usage and managing
of access tokens by deploying virtual cards on smartphones
- whether or not in combination with conventional cards - is
the new key to successful access control applications. For over 20
years, STid has been protecting the people, data and properties
of the most demanding businesses, governments and industries.
We have clearly anticipated this shift towards intuitive, yet ultrasecure
and open technologies. Our STid Mobile ID solution is
the perfect illustration of this approach.
What is STid Mobile ID®?
Frederick Trujillo: STid Mobile ID® digitizes your access cards
and transfers them to a unique mobile application. The access
control system manages physical employee access, the reception
of visitors, access to a parking and other secured zones. And
the smartphone, when simply switched on, even during phone
calls, becomes an identifier that support 6 unique user interaction
modes for instinctive contactless identification to make your
access control more intuitive while keeping it secure. One of the
great possibilities is that you are able to remotely customize, issue
or revoke thousands of virtual cards with just one mouse click.
How do you ensure data protection with STid
Mobile ID®?
Frederick Trujillo: Throughout the STid Mobile ID® platform,
including the readers, personal information is only stored where
it is absolutely needed. Virtual and physical credentials only contain
a unique number that is related to that individual person.
Personal information is nowhere stored locally, other than in system
modules where it is absolutely necessary.
We fully embrace the paradigms of " data protection by design "
and " security by design. " 90% of companies believe that their
data is under threat. STid supports end-to-end security throughout
the application infrastructure. The communication protocol
SSCP® guarantees the protection and confidentiality of data.
How? By using data encryption and authentication methods that
supports secure data storage and data exchange according to the
recommendations of the French national information system
security agency (ANSSI) and the Federal Information Processing
Standards (FIPS). And you can even add additional security
levels by requiring strong authentication through the smartphone
and/or via additional modules for the Architect® Blue readers.
Clients are in full control of their application and their security
keys. They have exclusive access to their account, access by
anyone else, including STid, is made technically impossible.
STid Mobile ID® even permits you, if you wish, to install the portal
on-premise and host your data solely within your organization.
With STid Mobile ID you are always in total control of your security.
A last word?
Frederick Trujillo: Our business success is based upon the
instinctive experiences of our customer and the seamless integration
of our technology with their systems and organisation. We
are strong advocates of the premise that users are more likely to
adopt solutions that are perceived simple and intuitive. In this
way, we get rid of the usability constraints conventional access
control system, so that every single employee willingly adheres
to the company's security policy.
At STid, we develop technology to make the everyday life
of people easier while safeguarding their security and protecting
their personal data.
