Joos Takes on ACRE CEO
Role as Grillo Retires

company ACRE, a global
provider of security
systems, announces Don
Joos joined its executive
team as the company's
new CEO, eff ective May 23.
Joos is said to be a proven and experienced
technology leader who is well-positioned
to lead ACRE through its next
phase of growth.
" Don joins the company at a pivotal
time and is primed to deliver great leadership
capacity to cover more ground,
assess more opportunities, and speed decision
making to best serve customers, " says
Tzachi Wiesenfeld, chairman of the board
of directors, ACRE.
Joos will be replace outgoing CEO Joe
Grillo, an SSI Industry Hall of Famer who
announced his retirement earlier in May.
ACRE describes Joos as a creative leader
with a proven track record of building and
modernizing businesses through mergers,
acquisitions and innovative growth plays.
Joos served as president and CEO at
TPx Communications and previously had
the same role at PGi, both Siris portfolio
companies. He worked his way from vice
president of global services to ShoreTel's
president and CEO during a six-year tenure.
Previously, he was vice president of
global services at Avaya.
Grillo has had a noted career, having
spent 40 years with leading high-tech
brands in the security industry across the
globe. He established ACRE in 2012 as
principal and CEO, focused on developing
the company's position as a leader in
the access control industry with an eye on
rapid organic and acquisitive growth.
Under his leadership, ACRE leveraged
opportunities within the highly fragmented
market and has grown to a company
with close to $300 million in revenue and
more than 500 employees worldwide.
GLSA Mourns Passing of
CEO & Industry Vet O'Brien

N.J. - Th e Global Life
Safety Alliance (GLSA)
recently acknowledged
the unexpected passing
of founding member
and CEO Jack O'Brien.
O'Brien had served the security industry
for decades as the COO of Ackerman Security,
vice president of Security Networks,
director of North American services for
Siemens, director of SecurityLink from
Ameritech, the director of Rollins Protective
Services, general manager of ADT Fire
and Security and the GM of Wells Fargo
Alarm Services.
In an announcement, GLSA says,

and lent great value to the GLSA. He is
sadly missed by our organization and will
be missed by his many friends and associates
in the security industry. "
GLSA is an educationally based alliance,
focused on leadership, executive and
business management, shared global risks,
practices, policies and standards of operations
around the globe.
Th e group also announced several new
appointments. Julio Fumagalli Macrae,
the recent past president, has accepted
the position of GLSA's director of education;
Michael Gips, Global Insights
in Professional Security, has been named
president; George Strom, business development
director of IoT at Intertek, is the
new vice president; and George Bish, vice
president of Amazon's Ring Protect, has
been appointed treasurer.

appoints Brent Duncan, the company's
COO and president, as its new
CEO.
Vivint Smart Home
announces Rasesh Patel
as its new COO. Patel
brings experience from
AT&T and DirecTV, and will
oversee Vivint's operations as well as
its technology and product platform.
Brinks Home announces
Akash Sah, the company's
head of strategy and chief
procurement offi cer, has
been appointed to the
board of directors for the Security
Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC). Sah
will serve as a trustee alongside 10
other alarm industry experts.
Automatic
Systems, a
manufacturer
of secure
pedestrian and
vehicle access control entrance
systems, welcomes two new U.S.
regional sales managers. Tanya
Seaman joins covering the Southern
U.S.; Michael Stoll will manage the
Mid-Atlantic region.
Altus Fire & Life Safety
(previously known as
Cross-Fire & Security Co.)
announces John Adams
has joined the company
as CEO. He most recently served as
CEO of Mission Secure, Inc. and has
held senior leadership roles at
SecureAmerica, G4S and Waratek,
among others.
