Bosch Solutions Secure New
York Town's Fire Stations
▶ BATAVIA, N.Y. - The Batavia Fire Department
in this municipality has installed
Bosch security systems into its fire stations.
The systems provide video surveillance, access
control and fire detection capabilities
for the town's two fire stations.
The fire department facilities include a
new building that opened in 2021 with two
drive-thru truck bays, a radio room, chief's
office, conference office, fitness room, four
bunk rooms, mechanics room, decontamination
room, a day room for members and
more. The department sought a complete
security system for the two facilities and
turned to longtime local provider Humphrey
Electric & Security for a solution.
" The stations needed video surveillance,
access control, and fire systems. We chose
to use a common manufacturer for the
solution, " says Dave Humphrey, owner,
Humphrey Electric & Security.

needs at two Batavia FD facilities.
The systems employ 27 FLEXIDOME
IP 5000i cameras around the interior and
exterior of the buildings, and DIVAR IP
all-in-one IP solutions support the cameras
with video recording and video management.
Access control for the facilities'
interior and exterior doors is designed to
restrict visitors access to the buildings' living
quarters and fitness centers.
B9512G Control Panels combine access
control and fire alarm monitoring in
one system for the facilities. Pull stations
installed on the exterior of the building
provide additional exterior security, triggering
the control panel to send an alarm
communication to the central dispatch
center if activated.
Other features built into the Batavia fire
department systems include the ability to
utilize the Bosch Security Manager app for
the G Series Control Panels. The app allows
authorized users to lock and unlock doors
remotely to grant access to facility visitors.
There are plans to build upon the Batavia
Fire Department's Bosch security systems
with advanced programming functionality
for the access control capabilities to help
ensure that volunteer members enter the
decontamination room in the truck bay
before they enter the buildings' interiors in
the event of an emergency.
Brivo Unveils Cross-Platform Credential
▶ BETHESDA, Md. - Brivo, a provider of Cloud-based access
control and smart building technologies for enterprise, announces
the Brivo Unified Credential.
The solution is a new cross-platform smart credential that is
compatible with select wireless locks and Brivo Smart Readers
to improve security while leveraging existing door locks and
devices, according to the company.
The company notes properties today are typically equipped
with a mix of installed locksets and proximity cards, and that
the main issue with standard smart credentials is that every
manufacturer has its own approach. Customers are forced to
either replace all of their existing hardware with compatible devices,
which can be expensive, or use proximity cards that aren't
encrypted and easy to duplicate.
Brivo Unified Credential allows property owners and managers
to issue a single keycard or fob that operates with Brivo
Smart Readers and select Schlage locks and battery-powered
Aperio locks from ASSA ABLOY.

Latest Schlage Smart WiFi
Deadbolt Is Apple Friendly
▶ CARMEL, Ind. - Expanding its Encode Series, Schlage has
introduced its Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt. The
company says the lock is one of the first products to support
the latest Apple HomeKit enhancements.
Via HomeKit capabilities of the Encode Plus Smart WiFi
Deadbolt, homeowners can use their Apple iPhones and Apple
Watches to open their homes' locks. The deadbolts also include
technologies such as Schlage's Power Reserve, which allows
users to unlock their homes even when their iPhone or iWatch
batteries are dead. Schlage says that homeowners can use the
Power Reserve technology for up to five hours once their Apple
devices' batteries are dead.
Other features include the ability to create and manage up
to 100 access codes from the lock's companion app. Owners
can set schedules with codes for recurring, temporary or permanent
applications.
