& Employee Retention Challenges
Recruiting, hiring and retaining talented job
candidates has been a crutch in the security
and low-voltage electronics industries for
years now. While it may feel like there's a
shortage of talent, there's no shortage of ideas
that companies can implement in their own
attempts to grapple with this dilemma - especially
those with creative teams to support
the eff orts.
Take Vector Security, whose sizable reach
did not deter its marketing team from focusing
on the hiring issue head-on in 2022. Vector
produced a series of HR recruitment videos
highlighting its talented team, which numbers
nearly 1,600, and why they love working for
the company.
" These videos are used for recruiting, brand
awareness and to provide a glimpse into what
it's like to work at Vector Security, " says Art
Miller, vice president of marketing at the Pennsylvania-headquartered
company, which has a
rich heritage having been in business 52 years.
A total of nine videos were produced,
according to Miller - eight highlighting individual
team members, plus one roundtable
discussion video. " The videos are uplifting and
inspirational, and make people want to work
for/stay at Vector Security, "

security provider. The videos are brief and
to the point, barely longer than a minute
yet able to convey the company culture and
employee morale.
They include slick graphics like the intro
image that shows the employee and their role
at the company, as well as the Vector Security
logo. Scanning all the videos also reveals
the importance of diversity at Vector, with
Black, brown and white male and female team
members giving testimonials. A sampling of
the inspiring sound bites: " I just enjoy my job. I
love getting up and going to work. " ; " Every day
is something diff erent for me. " ; and " It's not
just a job, it's a career - you can advance and
grow within the company! "
