Alarm Lock Debuts Access Control
System as a Service
▶ AMITYVILLE, N.Y. - Alarm Lock, a
division of Napco Security Technologies,
has introduced AirAccess, an access control
system as a service (ACaaS) designed
to help locksmiths, security dealers and
integrators build business and RMR-generating
accounts for small- and medium-sized
businesses (SMBs).
AirAccess is billed as the first cellular-based
access control system that makes
connections for installers, quickly and
easily via cellular communications networks,
outside the customers' network,
firewall and/or overburdened IT staff.
It is also said to be easy to bid and budget
for, as the monthly service has one low
flat per-system rate. And because it is a
hosted service, the client has no hassles or
turer says AirAccess is designed to be attractive
and more affordable to SMBs vs.
AirAccess' foundation is on the StarLink

big upfront hardware or security staff expenses
to bear, Alarm Lock says.
While an all-new ACaaS solution, its
foundation is on the StarLink cellular
communications and Alarm Lock Trilogy
wireless networked locks or panel, with
standard Wiegand readers. The manufacAlcatraz
Achieves ONVIF Certification
for Facial Authentication
▶ REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Alcatraz AI has achieved ONVIF certification
and will apply the standards to its facial authentication
solution, The Rock.
The Rock combines artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D sensing
technologies that is said to provide facilities with enterprise-grade
identity verification needed to create secure spaces.
While most product manufacturers focus on a single market
segment, ONVIF certification allows Alcatraz AI to bridge the
gap between access control and video management with a single
device, according to an announcement.
Obtaining the certification is said to give partners and end users
confidence that the Alcatraz Rock will work seamlessly with
any existing video management system (VMS) platform.
The company's Rock solution can now function as an ONVIF
camera and is certified with Profile S and Profile T to provide
IP-based video streaming. The solution has always been
equipped with a 2MP camera as a part of its sensor array,
which is said to make the inclusion of the ONVIF capabilities
simple for existing users.
The video stream can be added to any existing VMS, giving security
teams a unique door-level perspective of who is accessing
an area without an additional piece of hardware. This brings an
additional awareness that most doors and openings never have,
according to the announcement.

being overkill or overly demanding, like
some traditional enterprise platforms.
Fully scalable for a few doors and users
to hundreds of each, AirAccess offers a mobile
app with built-in credential and control
plus SMS notifications, on-demand reports
and real-time emergency monitoring.
The offering combines cellular-based
installation and operation, plug-and-play
setup and software with a five-step wizard,
all wireless from the Cloud to doors.
Dealers can choose from two AirAccess
starter kits, with ready-to-connect Cloudbased
software, cell communicator and
multidoor gateway, to which dealers add
their choice of wireless doors or readers.
ProdataKey Adds Anti-Passback Capabilities
▶ DRAPER, Utah - ProdataKey (PDK) has added Anti-Passback
to the programmable features of its pdk io Cloud platform.
Anti-Passback requires individuals who have scanned through an
entry reader to scan out through a corresponding exit reader before
their credentials can be used to re-enter the premises. By requiring
credentials to be used in an " in-out-in " sequence, cardholders
cannot " pass back " their access card or credential-enabled mobile
device to another person after entry, allowing them to enter too.
Anti-Passback rules are defined through the pdk.io software.
They may be applied to locations where users pass through designated
entrances and exits, like parking garages, and secure areas
such as data centers and laboratories that regulate both entry
and exit of workers.
The feature may also be applied at turnstiles. Should someone
swipe a credential in a sequence inconsistent with the Anti-Passback
rule, a violation is logged, reported, and depending on how
the system is programmed, the second entry is denied.
Administrators can set violation time frames for any length, including
no expiration. Establishing a violation window, rather than
an indefinite timeframe, effectively prevents users from " passing
back " their credentials at time of entry but allows the system to
reset itself, perhaps overnight.
Credentialed workers who fail to scan out will therefore not find
themselves locked out the next day. Anti-Passback is compatible
with any pdk hardware, including pdk, touch and red readers.
