Global Video Surveillance Market
Revenues to Top $24B in 2021
▶ LONDON - Global video surveillance
market revenues are projected to
reach $24 billion by the end of 2021, according
to Omdia's latest Video Surveillance
and Analytics Intelligence Database.
Th is marks a quick recovery for the
video surveillance market as demand
that was suppressed in 2020 will return
and revenues will be bolstered by projects
that were postponed in 2020 due
to COVID-19 getting the greenlight in
2021. Omdia forecasts that total video
surveillance market revenues will grow to
$31.9 billion by 2025 with a total compound
annual growth rate (CAGR) of
7.1% between 2020-2025.
Th e global market for thermal body
temperature solutions grew rapidly to
$1.3 billion in 2020. Driven by coronavirus
precautions,
the
technology
has been adopted by several regions, in
particular China, East Asia, India and
the Middle East. However, without the
growth in thermal body temperature
solutions, the global video surveillance
equipment market declined 3.8% globally
in 2020.
Despite being a driving growth factor
in 2020, Omdia forecasts the thermal
body temperature solutions market will
decline rapidly in 2021 to just $137 million,
an 89.8% decline, ultimately limiting
the overall video market surveillance
market growth.

Quantum Acquires Pivot3's Surveillance Business
▶ SAN JOSE, Calif. - Quantum Corp. has acquired the video surveillance
portfolio and assets of Pivot3, a provider of hyperconverged
infrastructure (HCI) and intelligent software solutions for
the security and video surveillance markets. The purchase price
totals approximately $8.9 million in cash and stock, according to
an announcement.
The acquisition brings a diverse portfolio of video surveillance
appliances, NVRs and management applications along with a scaleout
hyperconverged software platform, which going forward will all
be off ered under the Quantum VS-Series product portfolio. Together
with Quantum's current line of NVR servers, the StorNext File System
and ActiveScale object storage, the Pivot3 additions round out
a comprehensive surveillance and security portfolio, spanning small
to multi-petabyte deployments, according to the announcement.
" Surveillance cameras are the biggest data generator on the
planet, and Pivot3 has established themselves as one of the leaders
in this space by pioneering the use of hyperconverged software
for surveillance recording, " says Jamie Lerner, Quantum
chairman and CEO. " This acquisition represents another key step
in Quantum's transformation, solidifying the company as a serious
player in the multibillion-dollar video surveillance market,
expanding our global customer base, sales channels and technical
expertise specifi c to this industry. "
