J+C ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE DHL delivers wellbeing as a priority It is time to take health and wellbeing seriously as both individuals and as organisations. T he logistics industry is on track to overtake the NHS as the UK's largest employer this year. That's all the more reason for a huge company like DHL to make sure the health and wellbeing of its individual employees is prioritised and safeguarded. For some organisations, the simple equation might be: healthier, happier employees are more productive and less sick and therefore provide a clear impact on the bottom-line results of a company. For DHL, looking after the mental and physical wellbeing of its employees is a genuine attempt to address their needs as whole persons, not just as workers. DHL's wellbeing mission We know that the logistics sector can be both strenuous and stressful. If we aren't taking a proactive approach towards workplace health and wellbeing, then our people are more likely to be unhealthy, unhappy and unmotivated. DHL is leading by example by actively promoting its wellbeing initiatives, providing our employees with offerings and ideas that are inspired by them. We have identified four wellbeing priorities that need to be addressed to support DHL employees as they go about their business: MENTAL: A healthy head is as important as a healthy heart PHYSICAL: Physical health is key to a longer life and improves state of body and mind EMOTIONAL: Focusing on time outside of work encourages personal happiness PERSONAL: Working on individual growth to plan for your future self Jo Mather BACKLINE TRACING TEAM MANAGER " I love working for an international company with high moral and social values " " At DHL, we view health and wellbeing as embracing the whole person " Mark Rogers HEAD OF UK PROCESS ENGINEERING " The most important thing - and the thing that keeps me motivated - is the people!
