Favorite thing about aviation: The people.
Faith Ortega got her mechanical start as a kid , helping her father,
an auto mechanic, around his shop. Today, Ortega is not only a
helicopter mechanic with Air Evac Lifeteam, she also dedicates
much of her time to promoting the industry and inspiring the
next generation of aviation professionals. Ortega volunteers at
the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation, which is based out
of Creve Coeure airport in St. Louis. She also started the How to
Helicopter social media pages, sharing highlights from her work.
" I started the social media pages in hope to inspire young people
to get into aviation, or at least to try and get their feet wet. That
has led to some really cool opportunities. One of them being I
am a HAI brand ambassador, so every year I get to go to the
HAI HELI-EXPO and whatever city it's being held in, represent
them, " she said.

Dave Campbell, B.S.

Favorite thing about aviation: Satisfaction of a job done
safely and well.
While in the U.S. Navy from 2003-2013, Dave Campbell served as
an aviation electronics technician in Strike Fighter squadrons
VFA-146, VFA-122 and VFA147 and did multiple tours in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
At AVEX, his initial focus was learning about the Daher TBM.
Once Campbell understood what was important to customers
(the finer details), his focus and role became customer care. Since
he began at AVEX, he's earned a Bachelor of Science in project
management. In 10 years, Campbell has accomplished a lifetime of
work, moving from being a specialized avionics tech to mastering
the TBM airframe as a whole technically, to being recognized as
nine-time FAA AMT award recipient to earning the title of " AVEX
Technician of the Year " three times.
